    New front wheel bearings and seals. The races looked good and I was lazy so I left the old ones in. My 3/8 torque wrench would not adapt to the nut socket so it is together with german tourqe till I can get a proper sized wrench on it next weekend.

    I dont think mine is, what I am seeing really looks like Shellac flakes, that you use to finish furniture with, kind of golden brown/ redish looking. Before I pull the cover to look around, do I need a new gasket, and if so where do I look to pick one up?

    I just got the 4770 in with the 3426 and the filter is to big for the base, it looks like it is to big by agout 1/16 of an inch or so on the phone to fleet filter in the morning.

    Drive it a month or two if possible to geta feel for it, then start at the reiliability stuff, Starter relay, double check starter is attached right, servive all fluids.

    That is in fact a relay. It is not original. Was there a stereo or cigarette lighter installed, may have been used to power those.

    Sounds like a torque converter not letting it slip to me. Kind of like the clutch not releasing on a manual...

    Water pump pulley spacing

    Once the belt is installed, if it tracks true you should be fine. There is very little room for error in alaignment. Even if it seems good to the eye and turning it over by hand, at throttle it could through it pretty easy.

    Just keep at it. You have a big air pocket that will have to come out, it will take a while. Happened to me once, took over an hour to get them to pump up tight.
