I used a marine unit. I have a remote head unit and also added a rear view camera and a GPS. Also green led lighting. Here is how I mounted everything. Chris
I am in the same boat with the 33" tires. I am either going to buy or fabricate an outside spare tire carrier on the back, on the m1009 but I want it to swing to the side or drop down so I can use the tailgate. I added a receiver hitch and am going to use it as the basis for my tire carrier...
I like it and should be a fun shooting platform I am looking at doing something similar on a spare top I have for a M1009. I would like info on what and how you did your hatch. I've got a couple of different ideas on the hatch but nothing I like really well. This set up is an encouragement...
I agree with kope above................. I was in the NJ airport a couple of weeks ago coming home from NYC and got to see a plane full of our boys and girls known as the "wounded warriors". Looked as if they had been blown up and burned up in Hummers in Iraq. If you saw what I saw, after you...
I think it looks great. I really like the intake, I am considering purchsing the same one from Summit. The 454 looks great, I am doing the conversion now on a m1009.
I like it, definately a serious build. I am working on a build on a M1009 with a buddy that is somewhat similar. The buddy helping me has the same kind of metal working abilities as the folks in this build thread. My project is kind of slow but I am getting there: 454 conversion, 3/4 ton axles...
You can go to the junk yard, buy a complete receiver hitch off a late model chevy, around $50 or so, and either adapt it to the truck or have a welding shop do it for you. The receiver hitches are normally pretty cheap from the salvage yard, so when you are done you have a great hitch and not a...
Looks cool the MG42 should be a lot of fun off the ring. Put a fortress belt in it, and you can be as bad as you want to be. After seeing your pictures I am going to have to do something with my ring now. Chris
I have purchased one of these rings also. I am going to use it as a ring mount in a modified M1009 top. Thats at least a couple of projects down the road. I have a MG42 they are very scary and give you a great deal of respect for our G.I.s that had to face them down. If you don't have one...
If the 454 and the supercharger are not disturbing enough on the M1009, ....If you look really close on the right side of the supercharger you under the air cleaner you can also see the 125 hp powershot NOS unit. I think the old saying goes something like "It's better to ask for forgiveness...
finally working on the 454 install. I am about 1/2 way there. I am waiting on a bunch of parts to come in. (I should get a Christmas card this year from summit racing). I will post some pictures when I am done, the M1009 should live up to the flames. Chris
M1009
I have been working on the M1009 that I got in Jeff City. It is still a work in progress, I am putting a 454 in place of the diesel. I thought some of the folks might be interested in a couple of pictures. I am about 1/2 way finished.on the conversion and waiting on a bunch of parts...
There is some nice marine stero stuff that is works great in the cucv. I went with a face plate unit that will mount anywhere and then plugs into the receiver unit. It was easy to mount and looks good. Should also take a look at some of the boat speakers. Chris
You had sent me a P.M. I will send you a phone number. I will have some very soon, I have my new tires and wheels, but I haven't put my lift kit on the M1009 yet, when done, I would have 5 available and would try to get together with you on a set of four or five. I would guess it would be next...
M1009 Work in Progress
I am still working on my M1009 slowly but surely. I have added a cloth top, mounted my antenna, added GPS and a rear view camera. I also am putting in a led interior light system (green lights of course). I have finished redoing the 3/4 ton rear ends front and back to...
