I've used u-ship for 2 trucks and several smaller items. The "deposit" that they charge when you accept a bid is not as much a deposit as it is their fee. The hauler told me he only gets the amount you pay when the load is done and u-ship keeps the rest. Anyway I keep all their names and if I...
I've owned an 82 Blazer with a 6.2 and later a 6.5 diesel for 20 years. The starting problems I've had are either the starter brush springs loosing their temper and glow plugs burning out. The glow plugs are easy to check - just unplug the wire and use an ohm meter between the plug and ground...
I Have a very steep rocky road to my rec property. It is rocky and the rocks (many of them are sharp) constantly kick up out of the road because people drive it with two wheel drives and spin on the way. I talked to a road expert who said it needed to be packed properly to help hold the rocks...
I agree that it is good to stay within weight and balance limitations especially if you are providing a truck for someone else who may not be very skilled in feeling when a truck is about to flip. However, if you are careful and us some finesse it is amazing how much you can do. I drove my 22'...
This may not be the most applicable thread, but I didn't see a better forum to put it in. If you need to change oil, I found Balwin Duece oil filters P20D-HD for $7.23 and 5-ton oil filters P999HD for $10.89 on drillspot.com. Shipping was free and they got here real fast. Sam's club has Delo...
I have a 1999 freightliner that I need to use to haul some stuff over a rough rocky back road in Arizona. I don't want to risk cutting up the front highway tires. The freightliner tires are 11r 22. I got to looking at the spare on my M813. The tire size is 11 x 20, but both the 813 and...
You are right. Based on some data, and the wasps nests inside, I doubt that it had been started in several years. I removed the 4 army batts, put in 2 700 CCA car batts. I turned it on and hit the starter. It spun the engine quite fast and the engine was running almost immediately. I doubt you...
My new 813A1 from GL french camp was delivered. After a little inspection I found that the drive line was dis-connected from the winch, and worse yet, the pto box was hanging by the linkage. We had to move the truck, so I figured out that the plate on the pto box was the same size as the hole in...
hvann, Did you test any other forward gears besides first? There seemed to be some question about the front wheels engaging in first but not the other forward gears. Did you also test with the transfer case in low and high range? If anyone else knows these answers it would be nice to have them here.
jwaller and jimk, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It looks like two nice turbo jobs here. Are they both still working well? Can you pull a decent hill in 5th gear? About how many hours have they been driven? I'm thinking about trying this but want to see if yours' last.

Thanks again for the tips. I think I can build a lock out for the service disconnect breaker, or lock up the whole circuit panel. I'm not convinced that the gen would overload too much since all the gen current is going through the 60 amp breaker. Won't it trip pretty quickly if I try to feed...
Pull/coast starting?
I cannot seem to find a new thread button, so I am posting a reply to a similar one. I just bought an M813A1 and it was delivered to a lumber yard near my mountain property where I plan to keep it. I need to go get it in a week or two and I need some advice. The hauler said...
Transfer switch? I see where people have spent a large sum on a transfer switch. I will use this very little if ever (the power hasn't gone out for more then a few minutes in 10 years, which means I was probably stupid to buy this, but I love machines so I couldn't help it:-D) I have a welder...
