    Dexron VI fuel efficiency?

So I was reading up on Dexron VI, and saw this claim I'm curious to know if this would amount to a noticeable, real world improvement in the fuel efficiency of a 1009. I could do a quasi-scientific test, except I don't know for sure what's already in my cucv. Got it from GSA auction in San...

    1984 CUCV transmission.

Thanks. I was just thinking in terms of the future. I've got some pulled humvee TH400s. Vague plan is to keep one as a spare for my 1009 (assuming the bell housing is the same or adaptable) I was thinking about taking one out of the crate and taking it apart to inspect it and see what I...

    1984 CUCV transmission.

How difficult is it to rebuild these transmissions? Seems like there's alot of videos, rebuild kits, and manuals available on how to do it.

    1984 CUCV transmission.

Yep, down to the side of the transmission. Metal line connected by a little piece of rubber hose to the shift modulator or whatever that little cylinder is. Mine was rotted completely in half. New piece of rubber was a little difficult to get on, but doable.

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

Honestly, the IP on a cucv looks like the kind of thing it would behoove the owner to learn how to service himself. It seems like the common issue is with seals. And from what I can tell going by anecdotes relayed on the internet, replacing the seals seems to be all a "rebuild" usually entails...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to look at my remaining deuce parts. Do you still need anything? I'm probably going to be over there sat or sun.

Street Legal and register 5 ton for commercial use?

If I had a commercial farm and lived within 5 or 10 miles of the elevator/gin/whatever, I'd buy a fleet of 939s to haul the product. They're cheap, have a decent capacity, reasonable road speed, cheap, easy to operate, and cheap.

Brake light and buzzer staying on finally fixed

I think NOS are around 100 bucks, but I hear that you stand a good chance of getting a bad one out of the box. But, if you study the way they have to work, there is a way to duplicate the functionality of one alot cheaper with some relays and a buzzer. I drew up a diagram for it awhile back...

Brake light and buzzer staying on finally fixed

You're lucky. The far more common cause is the controller box for it (also controls low air warning lights/buzzer).

Where do you get rubber seals for your 1009s?

Yes, I know LMC truck has them. Anywhere else? Are the chinese ones on ebay any good? I'm assuming they're all from the same manufacturer.

    M1009 Air Conditioning Kit

I wish someone would post some detailed pictures of the Nostalgic air bracket. That's the real stumbling block.

Finished adding cruise control to my 1009

So I finished installing the Rostra kit on my cucv a couple of weeks ago. So far so good. Rostra 250-1223, in case anyone was wondering. The instructions were fairly straightforward, but there were a couple of issues that seemed kind of specific to the 1009. First, you have to attach the...

CUCV on hospice, wife wants to pull the plug

mkcoen had the exact same issue on his 1010 ambulance. It was an injector pump issue.

1031 on front of motor just above the IP?

Toss the controller and build something custom out of an arduino board. That way, you could use it not just for adjusting speed from load on generator, but also for cruise control running down the highway.

Knocking / banging sound while in 4wd...

Just thinking out loud. Do you think you could record some audio while driving around and post it on youtube? I'm not a cucv expert by any means. But I bet if you let some people hear it "in person" someone around here will have a good idea of what's going on.

Knocking / banging sound while in 4wd...

I wonder if it's the actual front drive shaft hitting something as it turns.
