Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Well, I'm willing to help you mess it up whenever you want to give it a try. Are there some overhaul tech manuals we could read?

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

If that part number 9 needs replacing, how difficult is it to pull the cylinder sleeve on one of these things?

Finished adding cruise control to my 1009

No problem. If you're using a manual transmission you'll also need the clutch disengagement switch I think.

Would someone mind taking some pictures of their A/C brackets for me?

Pretty sure that's just a generic bracket. It doesn't look anything like the brackets shown in Napoleon tanerite's thread here.

Would someone mind taking some pictures of their A/C brackets for me?

Yes. The nostalgia air kit is the brackets I was looking at that Napoleon Tanerite used. For the money, I'm not really impressed with the look of the components in the NAP kit. But I would be happy to copy their brackets, tho! sweetk30: I'm, not sure what compressor to run. I'm thinking...

Would someone mind taking some pictures of their A/C brackets for me?

I'm going to try to make some A/C compressor brackets to add air conditioning to my 1009. The only pics I've been able to find of the brackets are from Napoleon Tanerite's build a few years ago and the pictures aren't very clear on a few details.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Could you have air pockets in the radiator? I seem to faintly recall something from an old click and clack show about having to run the engine with the radiator cap off for awhile anytime you replaced the radiator or flushed it.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

The goat would GREATLY benefit from a spin on oil filter adapter. Does someone make one? I would imagine someone somewhere has them available, if this engine was used in a bunch of stuff like people tell me it was. Otherwise, I think making one wouldn't be too terribly difficult. I think I...

    Air powered wipers stuck

I should take one apart and see what the gasket looks like. I'll bet it would be trivial to cut new ones on my laser, once I've made a drawing for it.

    Air powered wipers stuck

It is possible to fix them. No guarantees on staying fixed. I had one that was acting like that, where the arm would go to one side and stay there. If I recall correctly, I took it off the truck, and ran compressed air through it in both directions with tool oil. Dunno what that did...

Does anyone have a 3d CADD CAD model of the Deuce?

I'd be interested in a 3D model. I've considered doing one, but I'm not that experienced in 3D modeling. I did a pretty good NDT tire model, tho. Mostly, I want one so I can tilt and rotate the model in any direction, then use the Make2d command in my program to make vector line drawings...

Bummer. That seems a bit on the high side for a re-core job.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I was telling a friend of mine about this truck and engine and he seemed to think it was a fairly common engine, used in alot of industrial stuff. Is that true?

Ouch, that radiator is pooched out pretty far on the split side.

What is this Detroit engine and allison trans assembly?

Nice. I think if I ever got a self-propelled howitzer, I'd basically have to quit both gun and vehicle hobby collecting. Where do you go from there?

    Air Conditioning a Deuce

Thanks Dave, I will definitely take you up on the template. Sending a pm now. eta: Saw where Tom might let his bracket go. If he wants to sell me his pretty cheap, I'll just go with that, and then use it as a template to make a second one for my buddy's truck. M35Tom, it's a good idea. I...

    Air Conditioning a Deuce

I wish I had an A3! I've got a couple of A2s so your solution for the compressor bracket intrigued me. It looks easy enough to do. In fact, I was thinking I'd do the first one by hand, so I can fit it properly, then draw it in cad and have a guy I know with a 4kW laser cutter make a couple of...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I hope not. It is possible, being an aluminum head and how hot it got. There is a method for straightening heads, tho. I think they measure them, then bolt them to a flat piece of steel with shims at various spots depending on how it's warped, then bake it in an oven. That's supposed to...
