Back to work this week...Boo! I'd rather be in Weare.
I made it back to Greater Portland without any issues, its just under 2.5 hours of travel time in the M109 if you start with an empty bladder and don't make any stops.
I'd like to thank willy10 and Evil Dr. Pork Chop for selling me those...
In the pics there is a fuel density compensator, a LDS-427 would not have a fuel density compensator. Your engine data plate may be obstructed by dirty oil and grease. :-D
I probably should mention tonight's dinner is pulled pork, be sure to buy your meal tickets early, they are sure to sell out. Last
night's spaghetti dinner and Ice cream run was awesome!
I finished up some PMCS on my M109 today, now its time to start packing!
I might take my Jeep TJ in tow so we can park the 109 and setup a canvas awning and remain mobile. I know know...its not a real military Jeep, but you'll be able to see the family resemblance!
Its a 110v AC to 24v DC transformer to power the vent fan and other 24v equipment off a generator. You could charge the deuce starter batteries with it or run 24v radios, lights and etc equipment.
My experience has been different. I purchased a NOS OEM starter for $440. It got stuck cranking almost immediately, I had to pull the dogbone to stop the cranking. I paid (my dime) to ship it back to the seller, he shipped me another NOS OEM that failed after maybe a dozen starts in less than...
I was impressed with the visibility of the magnetic Harbor Freight 12v LED tow lights I used last week. I had already wired my [tow] truck for a 12v trailer so the solution was easy and cheap. I just had to make an extension cord out of 14 gauge underground rated romex wire I had lying around...
Actually the Delco clones are inexpensive, and cheaper than NOS units and more reliable in my experience.

I am saddened to be reading about BC's passing here for the first time. I met Prentice at the 2011 Maine Rally and enjoyed his company and conversation, I vividly remember him warming up his Seabee deuce before heading back to Buck's Harbor. He did everything by the book, first spinning over...
I certainly can appreciate reusing gasser parts or leftover inventory on the multifuels, thank you for that tidbit information!
There is adequate clearance with the gasser shifter between 5th gear and the dashboard, reverse seems to be a little closer to the dash then 5th. I don't notice much...
Does someone know why these transmission shifter shapes are different?
Box vs Spring Seat?
Sprag vs Air Shift?
M109 vs M35A2?
Just wondering what the definitive reason is. I learned to drive deuce on the M109 with the straight shifter, it feels a little weird adjusting to the curved shifter...
I can help you navigate the scenic spots in the Portland area and probably offer some tips on Acadia, my wife is there right now.
I am now shopping for one 12-foot length of M35A2 troop seats, just the seat bottom (hinged) portion. Edit: I'd probably take one entire seat if its a deal breaker.
This is the one.
I made a similar one today and it seems to work fine in my long pak using shop air. I jacked a front wheel off the ground to see if the brakes engaged, they did. I plan to use the adapter to recover a short air pak truck on Monday.
I'm a little confused. If I'm not mistaken, the adapter Phil and Barrman inserted into the short air-pack on their M109 recovery trip used a 1/2 inch inverted flare fitting. I found the J-pipe on my long-air pack also uses 1/2 inch inverted flare fittings. So this same adapter can be used on...
