Thanks, guys...what about the pto? I haven't crawled under the truck yet, but I thought I would snag it, too. While I'm there, I will take pics of the trucks this guy has-bunch of WWI and II stuff. The mounting plates are there, so I'll get them too.
I've got a line on a winch from an early deuce. It's the same Garwood winch, but it looks like the driveshaft is a little different. The early deuce doesn't have the frame extensions like the later M35, and it doesn't appear to have the handle on the back of the winch, either. Would I be able...
This happened in an old chevy of mine...I assumed that friction caused the cable to bind for a moment, then when it released, it sped up quickly, to catch up with the rest of the cable. I took the cable out of the sleeve, coiled it into a jar of grease, then reinstalled. Never another problem.
I sent that guy a message and told him it was irresponsible to sell this truck. Some poor ignorant schmuck might buy this turd and try to drive it as is. The steering would go, and then the brakes, then the axle shafts would shear, and then the wheels would fall off while the guy was driving...
I'd say keep it red...It's a good paint job, and represents a noble civil service. I think military vehicles utilized for fire departments still retain a high degree of respect. 2cents
You could at least keep it that color until you finish all other modifications you want to make, and then...
