Spicer 5 Speed in an A3

the problem i had when researching trans' was that 5 or 6 speeds in the medium duty realm are almost alway direct drive. usually the only trucks that use 5 or 6 speeds are around-town box trucks, thus the direct drive. OD trans are out there, but they're pretty hard to find in my area, at least...

Spicer 5 Speed in an A3

i'd use a 5T trans rather than the deuce trans; the Cat puts out more power than the MF.

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

i'm also using the PSC steering valve, and unless i'm imagining it, i have some steering feedback. don't know specs on the valve, though.

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

this remains true, even with 1600's. most folks don't truly know what they're missing with hydraulic steering. i'm enjoying the crap outta mine. you've done some great work and just as good 'a job documenting it all. [thumbzup]

    5.9 Cummins, NV4500, Hydro-boost, and Disc Brakes

thanks. i've been window shopping for quite a while now. i actually missed out on a sweet twins setup for cheap a few weeks ago. i was originally planning on running twins; likely a system that utilizes the stock HX35 (if i don't ruin it between now and then ). i'm not needing...

How to turn up fuel on M35a2?

that is correct. i think in only saw a max of about 12 psi on my truck once turned up.

    5.9 Cummins, NV4500, Hydro-boost, and Disc Brakes

yep - it was frickin' gorgeous weather outside this weekend. got up to 70° here as well; that really helps with the motivation factor of getting things done. [thumbzup] you guys are welcome any time. no worries - i appreciate sharing your experiences with the hydromax. after i put some...

    5.9 Cummins, NV4500, Hydro-boost, and Disc Brakes

initial response: you're nutz! but, i had no idea where Haspin is; google says it's 482 miles from me. that's not that bad at all. however, i can't do it without a trailer - i ain't driving that far in the deuce. main thing is that i come to play; 500 miles is a long way back in a broke...

    5.9 Cummins, NV4500, Hydro-boost, and Disc Brakes

that was dumb - all that talk about gauges and i didn't even mention the EGT or boost gauge. i think i forgot about them because they went in so well... anyway, i re-used the Diprocol Optix gauges that i had in the Dodge. i found some universal 'bullet' gauge pods (Vission Maxx?)...

    5.9 Cummins, NV4500, Hydro-boost, and Disc Brakes

sorry for no updates in a while... i've been traveling for work a bit, and it's been cold enough to sap the motivation out of me when i've had time. but, mainly because i've only recently finished something that's been kicking my ace......... guages. i knew i'd need some guages, i just...

    5.9 Cummins, NV4500, Hydro-boost, and Disc Brakes

no worries - i don't take it as criticism. the truck is probably around 11k lbs. i'm not towing or hauling with this truck, so i don't expect the load to ever reach higher than, say, 12.5k lbs. it's F550 stuff from MC to brake pads; this system is designed to operate in 19k lbs GVWR. the...

read this thread. he had a similar issue.

    warm starting issues, still

the OP described extended crank times; the truck is having trouble firing when hot, not cranking when hot. that's the way i read it...

Latest addition to the Bob'd list...

thanks for the compliments. yes - it was an option. i chose to go with the stock-height springs and blocks because i knew that the traction bars would take care of any axle wrap. and with a light rear-end, i wanted a relatively flat spring to keep a good ride. so i saved money, eliminated...

i was looking for that thread. i have no idea how you dig stuff up so fast...

    Selectro Hubs

i agree - it depends on the wheels you have. i have modified HEMTT wheels and they don't protrude outside of the wheel. that's a decent deal on Selectro's, though.

Recovery of my fresh Laundry Unit

i can't believe you would part it. that's a really neat unit and it's hard to believe they would surplus it. well, not it isn't.... anyway, that's a really capable unit and i would look at selling it as a unit to a company or outfit that could utilize it's potential.

    Selectro Hubs

i like to believe this equates to a larger hub collar with a longer stroke and increase spline contact area. all of which could affect ultimate strength in the relationship between the two. ...but that's an assumption. i have no proof or valid data. and, no, i'm not going to take my...
