Thump of a shift - first gear

So, ole Belle (as my daughter calls her) and I have driven many miles together with family and friends. We've searched for and cut Christmas trees in two states...gone on many campouts...driven countless errands...and transported kidos to as many activities all around town. She has always...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Drove to work as well...been using the TCW3 additive for nearly 4 full tanks now...big improvement in sound and general smoothness of engine. Picked up the gallon kit of Opti-lube from a.....n.com recently. Haven't used it yet, but expect there to be even more of an increase in 'performance' as...

How many of you use your cucv's everyday ?

I drive her to work once in awhile - 28 miles round trip, on I-25 for most of it. In the evenings after work, she often runs the kids to their activities...to the hardware store on errands every weekend and on longer trips around NM for camping once a month. Love it. And like many here, I...

    Windshield replacement

Safelite did my replacement. It was under 200...I supplied the rubber from LMC. It was standard tint strip on top and no antennae. Then we moved to NM, on the way bam, rock chip in the corner that grew three inches...can't fix those. Time for a new windshield again!! The new quote, oddly...

    Diesel additives

Everyone, Well to second or maybe even third, the TWC3 comments...I am on the second tank of fuel with the additve from Wallies'. The motor is without a doubt more quiet and seems to have a little more pep. No increase in smoke, no increase in smell. Though, the smell does seem less, not...

    86 M1009 Build

Looks good! I too re-wired, cleaned and labeled every thing I could under the hood. It was tedious, but by labeling all the wires and writing a personal chart (yes there are pre-made ones out there that I used as a guide) I was able to better understand and remember/troubleshoot any electrical...

    Diesel additives

So to summarize what may be a common theme here...and by the way, this is a great discussion... If you want to increase the longevity of your IP and possibly some other pumps in the engine, add some TC-W3. An added bonus is quieter engine performance, particularly cold start ups. If you main...

    M1009 ECU conversion parts

Gentlemen, I think this one has been played out...surely the poor fellow has the point. I second Patracy and add...The point of the 6.2 for some, is that it is bio-diesel capable and reliable. One must be VERY careful with the quality control on the biodiesel if it is a home brew. The first...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Congrats and hang in there! Read the stickies, some of them directly address those wiring issues...I have chased out, removed and cleaned nearly every wire loom and ground in there and those threads were with out a doubt (along with the TMs!! and diagrams) were critical. Print them out! We...

    M1009 project

So, you might need some hearing protection for that compressor behind the drivers seat...might be louder than a 2 year old without a nap! Looks like a great project! Welcome and keep us posted!!

cHucv Soup: The animal to be

    New CUCV Owner

Well sir, looks like quite a project. With the exception of the brake issue, you may just be facing some missing parts that can be picked up at your local store. As you will find in the sticky sections, much of the wiring and relay issues you are missing you'd be better off replacing anyway...
