OK - so can someone school me? The MLVW's we used in Canada had ether plumbed in with selector switch on the dash. Straight up military issue, no motorpool fix. Since basically they are the same design (but built by Bombadier in Quebec) as the deuce - what makes it safe there (aside from...

    Lssv cucv

Anyone familiar with the LSSV CUCV? That 24 volt system looks very crowded... Also with a 9200GVW (for a 3/4 ton crew cab) and a heavier tare weight it looks like it will haul less than the old CUCV's. Not to mention that there are seats for 5 but rifle holders only for 2...

    M1008 leaf spring question

Thanks for the pirate link probably just overanalysing / overplanning but I am remote from the truck so can't just go eyeball stuff to see if it will fit and don't want to buy stuff sight unseen as it were without knowing it can be made to work without affecting something else later in the...

    M1008 leaf spring question

Hence the confusion in how to measure - the set I got from a 89 1-ton are 62" eye-eye...but where to measure from,,, A) "along the length", straight distance from the furthest point front to rear, B) along the curve but only from the eye to the eye (the straight-ish part of the leaf) C)...

    M1008 leaf spring question

"rear gas tank" ?? AFAIK the M1008/M1028/M1031 only have a left side saddle tank outside the frame rail... Still confused re measuring. The ORD site specifically says NOT from eye to eye... Spare and hanger already gone for just that gas tank mod.

    M1008 leaf spring question

Confused-ish with the literature out there... What is the rear spring length on the 86 M1008/1031/1028's? Front spring length? Confusion arises from how measured, eye to eye -vs- longset spring leaf length. Not sure how you measure that - wrap the tape measure al the way around the eye at...

    CUCV's And CARC

Are there any paint shops out there (west coast) that will do a 3 color job using the textured CARC (waterborne or otherwise)?

dana 60 vs 14 bolt detroits

Is the 14 bolt in the M1031 a 10.5" or 11.5" unit - just checking but think it is only a 10.5" since not a dually. Wanting to upgrade to a dually rear axle (higher GVW) like a M1028A2/3 is not as stressed when maximally loaded like I plan to be most of the time once the camper is on (the payload...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

    So is it a M1031, M1028a1, M1028a2/3 or some new hybrid m1031a2/3? And what is the rear axle - 10.f 14 bolt, Dana70HD, 11.5 14 bolt, Dana 80?

    HMMWV rim modifications

We have all seen many recentered H1/HMMWV rims, but has anyone tried to make them wider? I am wondering about either using a second rear portion instead of the front half,or a "c-channel" style of (variable width) insert that goes between the existing parts with another o-ring and a wider PVC...

    Hmmwv beadlocks on m1008

Did you have to move the front axle forward to keep the front tires from rubbing the cab at full lock/deflection? I am assuming those are 37's...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Added a 1 gallon windshield reservoir (actually the standard round jug you buy WW fluid in locally) with longer hose line - placed right against the radiator coolant reservoir. Also mounted a late 80's reservoir (with the pump built in) right beside that with the hose running to the stock washer...

    Wheel Spacers

Good to know - so when I finally get up to 100 posts I can place a WTT or WTB ad for swapping 2 each SRW Dana 60 front hubs for 2 Dana 60 DRW front hubs in good condition.....

    Wheel Spacers

Apparently I need to go back to kindergarten - to learn how to count! My M1031 DOES have a 14 bolt - with a WMS of ~67.5" (the front axle was the one with the 10 bolts as it should be - a Dana 60 with a ~69.5*" WMS) So if I understand it right, putting dually front hub/spacers from a Chevy...

Stereo advice from some sound guys plz

Why not install an aircraft 2 to 4 station intercom system and wear noise cancelling headsets? Most of these allow Ipod etc inputs to be fed in and some even cell useage (if you have mikes on the headsets)

    PTO on m1028

It also had a hydraulic (from a PTO) driven pump to deliver the 100 gallons of AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) agent which is a water/foam concentrate mix. Quick disconnects in the hydraulic lines allowed rapid replacement of the skid mounted system for a fresh one or for other uses of the...
