Bill, missed the bid as I don't have a computer at home and the bid ended on Sunday. When cheap @ $202 something each.
Still looking for info if there was any pump powered by the 4a032 engine. Since the bolt pattern is an SAE standard #5, I think I can make/assemble one if I can find a pump...
Well, last night I reversed the right hand coil per the manual. Engine started on third pull and after clearing the lazy cylinders from before, ran great. Next time something is labeled "top" don't believe it!
Had the same problem with a plug on the front winch, got the correct 8 point socket, then no problem. 12 point sockets round off the 4 corner plugs so don't try them.
Ace can flog me with a wet manual!!
Since I did not have any instructions with the new kit & did not download the manual yet, when the coils are marked "top" I installed them that way. WRONG!! Per the manual, the righthand coil must be installed with "top" down and wired per the manual...
If it is a bad controller (which I assume is the little black pod inside the coil case, one per side), why would I have spark on the two cylinders that won't run? How did you correct yours, and did it take two controllers?
Just won a retro-fit kit to change-out the points on the 4a032 to electronic on E-BAY for cheap money ($17+ shipped). Box was unopened with all parts still in the bags, but no instructions. Figured that it can't be too hard so installed on Saturday. Now engine only runs on #1 & #2 cylinders...
The gov pod on the carb is connected to the gov "switch" on the side of the distributor. The switch controls the flow of vacuum to the pod, and when the engine reaches full speed, the pod closes the throttle. Check all lines and action of the pod linkage. You should be able to see the linkage...
Is the 4a032 bellhousing a standard SAE pattern? Need to know, as I may be able to get a pump end that bolts to a standard SAE bellhousing for use on the water truck. Would be able to use the 24 v truck system to start the engine and direct plumb the gas lines into the fuel pump for fuel to...
Saw one of these outboard driven pumps on GL or E-bay one time. Looked like a problem!! Still looking for a 2 or 4 cylinder driven unit, if they even built them. Thanks
Having worked on these trucks for the last 2 years, the most important thing I can warn you about is the size and weight of the various components! The rear hubs w/ brake drums take two men to remove and replace without a crane. The engines weigh over 2,000# w/o the transmissions and the...
Per one of the posts below, an article on the various bridge trucks by DDoyle would be great! Since we have three (an M812A1, the water truck conversion and the spare M139) it would make for great reading. There seems to be a lot of the M139/M328 trucks around here (New England) that are more...
Got the 1.5 kw gen set back together last Sunday and it seems to work fine. The engine has been severely mistreated, but it runs and starts OK. Found a 3/8" nut and a brass pipe to flare adapter in the crankcase when I took the gov. out to regasket it! Vibrates more than I like, but someone...
So, were any of the ENDT-673 powered trucks built from the ground up or were all of them re-built through the factories and given new A1 numbers?
The frame top flange cutout on the right side of the engine looks to be factory cut, not cut with a torch. I would assume that the cut would have...
