    Issues with SF-97

Nah. I'll digress. I forgot about the sensitivity of the subject. Even though I was correct in what I said and asked.

    Issues with SF-97

I'm not asking how to put in on the road. Sf97 is an aplication for a title, why would they offer it if you can't get a title of ownership.

    Issues with SF-97

Hmm. I appear to be getting into a situation where I can't answer certain questions without violating site rules.

    Issues with SF-97

Has it taken anyone a long time to get a title? So far it's been 7 weeks since title work was done. I called 2 weeks ago and my tag and title guy said that he called the DMV and they said it would be sent right out. Now I'm beginning to wonder if their a problem that's not being communicated.

How to calculate tread percentage on 9x20 ndt's

It seems like about 20/32" would be what a new tires tread depth would be.

    M998 Shifts Early

I don't think mine has ever been in first. I think I hit second once. It loves third gear so I just leave it there. I get what you're saying though. When I first got mine I thought something was wrong. I also think it would be way more drivable if it would wind out a little more between shifts...

    M998 Shifts Early

Seems normal to me. Under light to normal acceleration they shift into 3rd very early. Now if you put it to the floor and it shifts into 3rd at 15mph then you might have a problem.

Looking for list of recommended tools

1.5" socket and 13/16" budsocket for wheels with wrench. Decent socket set and wrench set. Impact wrench, die grinder with cutoff wheels, air hose, prybar, fluid pump, Allen wrenches, extra fluids, screwdrivers, funnel, hydraulic jack, flashlight.... I just started with the basics and when ever...

    Surplus tires

He's referring to a method of utilizing the type of differential in the hmmwv. When a tire loses traction you use the brakes to stop the wheel from spinning thus sending power to the wheel with traction. Do some research on how to properly do this as damage could occur to drive components if...

    Surplus tires

40 psi seems like a pretty solid ride. That said, maybe I will try 35 and see how it goes before I go lower. Couldn't hurt saving fuel either. I could always air down if conditions demanded it.

    Surplus tires

    Ditto. Interesting differentials on these.

    Surplus tires

Could be. You are correct about max pressure. I was just at tire rack looking at specs because I was curious about new m/t tread depth. According to them the tread depth is 19/32. My fenders say tp25 rear and tp20 front. I run them all at 25 but I am tempted to switch all to 20 for a better ride.

    Surplus tires

Whoa... 50psi in a hmmwv tire. You prob have a half inch of tread touching the ground.

    Surplus tires

The outside wear is normal on the rears due to the extreme camber when the truck is unloaded. Just make sure the tow isn't too far in or out. I'm sure there is a spec for it but I don't know what it is. When I got my 998 the fronts were towed out an inch and a half. I had bad wear but I don't...

    Surplus tires

Sounds like and alignment issue. Have you measured your tow in/out yet?

Fan permanently clutched in after steering pump replacement

Sometimes unrelated things fail for no apparent reason at just the right time. I just replaced my thermostat and now my battery isn't charging. Turned out that my voltage regulator failed on the next start up. It sounds like you are troubleshooting properly but my point is to never assume that...
