OK, time to put up or shut up. AND if you knew me, shutting up is literally impossible so I guess I gotta go with my idea of a military vehicle collector club in North Texas. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/conversations/76972-i-am-going-start-my-own-mv-club.html
I have just moved from Denver...
this came about when a member ask me where to get the paint to spray paint the vinyl in our trucks... I got MINE at an auto paint supply store in Denver... but I came across them in Home Depot - the exact units I bought for WAY more money - with out further ado, here is that PM I sent...
OK, I have the original NO SPIN/DETROIT LOCKER owners manual AND the original sticker (unused) for the CUCV series for those vehicles that have them.
The only problem is that it's 11.25 MB and the site limit for .pdf files is 9.4 - can any of the mods or any one else help
I want to give this...
OK, I just moved from Colorado to Texas.
The basic difference is that in Texas you paint the numbers on the truck front and rear and that becomes the license plate numbers (so to speak)
I still don't have to run plates, so I'm a happy camper...
I know, I know... PIX
Ya gotta know where...
I've been looking for an EMPTY MKT.
As I don't want it to have anything in it, I guess the model does not matter.
I just want the empty shell.
I have an odd idea I would like to try. I have not seen anyone else try this idea, so I'll keep it to myself until I find one.
IF it works, I'll...
OK, did any one on SS win the M1010 at Ft Riley, KS?
2310 - Passenger Motor Vehicles at Government Liquidation
Went for about $3400 plus the fees and T,T&L... Call it about $4k registered and inspected, but that's just a guess.
19k miles. Looked to be in great shape.
So, did anyone here...
OK I used a THULE rack. Cost was $100 for the pair and as I have two M1009's that are getting this style of light, I considered $50 for the rack not too bad. Came off of Craigslist locally.
The two brackets I used were Thule load stops. I got them for $12 plus s&h.
RandyLBarnes drilled the...
OK, you can get a new fuel filter base off of ebay for like $73 shipped to me.
I NEED just the fuel heater. I broke the one pulling it out of my old backing plate.
SO, does anyone have the NAPA numbers for the fuel filter heater and the water in fuel sensor.
I have the Stanadyne numbers...
OK, Ive done a lot searching and reading on the TH400 and what happens to it with age.
Mine is an excellent example.
My b1985 M1009 Blazer has a little over 66k miles on it. I bought it with 58k miles on it about four years ago.
About the only thing I've had to do is replace the tires and...
OK, I seem to be doing something incorrect.
According to the -34 to replace the modulator, you basically loosen the bolt, remove the retainer plate and swap in the new modulator.
That went just fine. But I'm apparently INSTALLING the modulator, because now I can shift into reverse just...
OK, I've now emission tested two of my three CUCV's. The third one will get tested in a couple of weeks. I've got to replace it's exhaust system.
My vehicles ALL run 15/40 Royal Purple and an K&N air filter. And just before emissions testing they get an oil change. Which means I currently...
OK, my tranny in my older M1009 is starting to make sounds. So I crawled up underneath to take a look see.
Looks like she has leaked tranny fluid at some time in the past. A LOT of blow back that could be oil or tranny fluid (mixed with dirt). But one of the things that jumped out at me is...
4940 - Miscellaneous Maintenance Equipment at Government Liquidation
1986 M1031 with 14k miles went for $3600 - (call it $4400 after fees and taxes) and then you have to recover it.
But this baby was FULL OF TOOLS and lots of other kewl stuff.
Had the Lincoln welder. Had the vise still...
It seems an MKT may be in our future. The wife REALLY, REALLY liked the one she cooked on at the airshow. 'So many applications' were her exact words.
So, my question is this.
Everyone seems to say (PLEASE CORRECT THIS) that you can only pull an MKT with a deuce or five ton.
Don't get me...
OK, for NOW I've only got the M1028A2 dually, and two M1009's. Plus an M101A1 and an M101A2 trailers.
So, I will be SLOWLY adding an M1010 when I can find one I can afford and the wife gives me the money. Same goes for an M1031. I already had ONE M1031 but it needed a little more work than I...
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/military-vehicle-road-trips/54383-m1009-recovery-success.html
Full story, no problems with pix and everything.
OK, I posted this in 'Road Trips'. Mods if you WANT to move that thread to the CUCV section and then either delete this one or lock one or both, fine by...
I won my second M1009 a few weeks ago on this auction out of Ft Riley...
2320 - Trucks & Truck Tractors, Wheeled at Government Liquidation
I got my EUC processed in two weeks and made my appointment. Ft Riley is 500 miles one way from my home here in Denver.
I drove my M1028A2 out. NO...
OK, here yah go. This is the auction I won and I got the paid invoice in less than two weeks.
I've got two weeks to go get it (July 14th).
2320 - Trucks & Truck Tractors, Wheeled at Government Liquidation
On the off chance that link does not work, it was a 1983 M1009 with the lowest miles...
OK, my M1028A2 lost lights (all of them) and horn while I was driving around the other day. I checked ALL of the fuses. They checked out OK on my multimeter.
But I knew it was one of those fuses. So I used the search function. Several different variations of 'electrical problems', 'no...
