We don't know that his block is cracked. I agree it probably is. But I have seen a pinhole flaw in a 4cyl jeep engine and sealed it with stop leak because the customer could not afford a new block.

Stop leak is cheap. Put some in and try it. If it works you can start saving for a new engine. If not sell something less important like the wife and kids.
An air shift is nice but my truck has a Sprag type transfer case and it works just fine even in the snow. A Sprag transfer case should not be a deal beaker as long as it is in working order.
As far as pitting I have no comment. But if you do a Google search for lifter resurfacing you will find that it is normal machining service performed by many.
(I would never run a tire older than 10 years on a steer axle. Put them on the inside, rear axles, only.)
I agree with the steer axle but on my deuce they go on the outside dual. The odds of a 9x20 coming apart is slim but if they do I don't want them anywhere near the brake lines.

Made a template for the side panel in upper bunk. Installed side panel and panels over front window.
