the other thing you could do to straighten your drive shaft angle is to put small shims under springs to change the axle angle a little bit. I did on me years ago and never had an issue all that is needed is a few degrees. I left the transfer case alone.
so yesterday I pulled the trans out of the truck and sure enough the clutches are all burnt. so today put all new clutches in and put the trans back together and got it back into the truck. went for a test drive and all seems well at this time. the trans shifted twice and was able to maintain 55...
the "new " alt did come with warranty but it is long since gone by. so good info on combining the two will just have to look and find an other cucv style alt. to rebuild. and no it was not auto zone alt.
ok so I was thinking to day about this. I have a good left hand alternator. that the housing broke so bought a new one from parts place. now that one is having issues . so can I take all of the guts out of the old original alt. and put in the new housing. just a thought
oh ok that is a great idea so what is the big secret to get one. if some has a part number I would go by one from the dealer and put it on. I seen a number cast in it but could not read it fully. or does some one have a supply of some to buy one from.
