no resistor in the end of that wire you can pull it straight off. you could use the wiring diagram in the tm to trace were it goes and its condition. my money would be on the gauge ive replaced quiet a few some didnt work at all some were intermident.i get these for $35-$40 in new condition.
you have to hold it in start position for several seconds after it starts to flash the feild. starter will not grind as their is a speed switch. if it wont make power after then i would suspect ac voltage regulator section.
remove all the bolts and knob and let it hang their. i tap on the bearing ends this losenes up the waffers. then flush contact cleaner through the cracks in the waffers and at all the terminal points, tighten back up. this has worked for me. when working correctly the switch moves smooth and...
i replaced the diodes in my 017 some years ago. i cant help you with the original parts but i found the ones i put in mine. they were crossed at the time. hope it helps

forgot about the button. with both pumps you can do the math method as rickf said. very important to get the button size right it will effect timming. most pumps are shipped without this button installed. that pc mark comes up for comp. stroke and exhaust. so you need to know your on the comp...
looks like one or more cylinders not firing. some guesses, timming off on your ip install. remove valve cover watch for valves closing (rockers loose) on #1 cyl. then install pump. defective ip pump, compresion problem (rings or valves), or bad injector.
i personaly like mine moble. and at 150 ft. away an increase in wire size will be needed. if you do the single phase conversion on the 004 you will not get the 15 kw out of it may only get around 11 or 12 kw which the 003 can do. 004 is rated at 1.5 gph. while the 003 is 1.1 gph. that being said...
the onan master service manual spec. sheet page 3-3 rates the djc engine at 17.9 hp. at 2000 rpm
the 003 is rated 18 hp. 5000 ft. tm5-6115-585-12 page 1-7
found this document list specs. for mil. gens. differs a little from the tm, states 003 20 hp. 1800 rpm

their on the surplus market same as the 003 engine. or you could aquire the gen. set for the engine and recoup some of the cost through selling off the parts . also the 400 hertz models that use these eng. might go cheap.
i dont think the the 003 engine will do, i thought max. hp. was 18.5. the 004 hercules D198 engine makes 44 hp. at 2000 rpm might squeeze 50 out of it. or the 005 D298
if you dont get white smoke while cranking then your not getting fuel. does the linkage go all the way up while its cranking? if yes then you probally have a stuck plunger. i just had a 002 and 003 that had this problem. you might get lucky and free it and it works. i got the 003 running good...
