Cylinder Heads International -- RUN AWAY!!!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Out of curiosity what went wrong with the original heads? Maybe your claims with the BBB will yield a return in some form. I must say the subject line "run away" made me think the engine ran away until destroyed.

You could try to troubleshoot it with the TMs. Would probably save you some time. I have a link for the TMs in my signature.

    electrical problems

Start Simple. First confirm your batteries. Have them load tested, and fully charged. Then consult the TMs if pressed for time. They can be faster than the forum. I have a link to the TMs in my signature. Use key stroke Control and F to search them for key words. There are very good procedures...

Has anyone had a fender bender?

Depending on the details of the policies involved this may vary. I'm guessing you, like most here, carry Liability Insurance only. Leaving the repairs for your truck up to you.?. Perhaps the only way it would be covered is if the collision could be blamed on the crumpled Wrangler that should...

Physical size of fuel tanks 16 vs. 20 gallon

I am rarely able to get more than 15 in mine as well. It seems that when the gauge hits E, there are several gallons actually remaining.

    Could I pull a pop-up camper behind a M1009?

I would add an electric trailer brake controller and receiver hitch. You may also need to add a compatible connection for trailer signal lights.

What things are likely to fail in the field?

In mine you will find: Spare wheel and tire, fuel, fuel filter, starter, wire, jumper cables, lots of tools, Multi Meter, jack, stands, 4x6 wood blocks, chain, belts. Spare IP at home. That's all I can recall now. You can't plan for everthing. Reading a lot here and in the TMs will prepare you...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I had a huge leak near the radiator that left me roadside one night with a huge white cloud of smoke trailing. Luckily it didn't catch fire and I had plenty of fluid, and could show the leak enough to make it home. I ended up making my own lines from a coil of tubing from summitracing.com

Is it worth having a pro set my timing?

If worried about timing, I would verify the scribe mark allignment on the IP. Have you had your injectors pop tested lately?
