I would first run 3 or more full tanks of pure pump diesel through her, B20 if available. Burn the tank almost empty before refilling. Carry an extra fuel filter. Make sure your fuel system including IP is in good health. Inspecting an injector or two would not hurt either.

I would use a socket on the harmonic balancer instead of bumping the starter. A pull handle will make it easier to overcome the compression.
