Welcome Moriboy- I can't think of anything easy, but have you checked the air intake system? I am planning to put a fuel pressure gauge on mine, so I know what press I have at the IP. Good luck and please let us know what you find. Hope it is something simple (and cheap!).
Matt- Seems you have a great work ethic and are developing some great skills! Not just the painting, but digging into the water leak issues. These skills and the can-do attitude will stand you well in any career that you should choose! I get crazy when I hear people excuse gang-bangers and...
Oil cart use and cost
Thanks, I have filtered about 50 gallons so far, it is working quite well. I fabbed up a better manifold where the hoses flow into the horizontal barrel. That way I don't have drips from the return hose and safety valve hose. Also, I can screw a funnel in the top of...
I agree Eagle that 1 micron is overkill. I just use that because I wanted to use the Cot filter, because it has a heated head which evaporates water. They only offer that filter with 1 micron elements. I am sure that a 5 or 10 micron filter is fine.
I just want to emphasis that using cheap...
I still have nightmares about a trailer I hauled when I was young and dumb! Had a Ford 450 pulling a three axle trailer with a 350 dozer on it. I didn't get the dozer far enough forward on the trailer, so didn't have enough weight on the tongue. Of course the trailer had anemic electric...
There are lots of threads on this site that go into this. Start in Alternative Fuels forum and do some reading. I am just getting ready to run my first WMO. I can't speak for anyone else, but my plan is to start out running a 50/50 mix of WMO and diesel. Two things to keep paramount. The...
Ditto on slow and easy. I also hate to put too much pressure on the pulley or crank end. I have done quite a few stuck ship/boat engines. There is a tremendous amount of surface area where the rings touch the bore! Just a skim of rust between those rings and the bore will stop you dead. I...
I finally got my UMO filter setup done. Here are the basics:
The pump (a 115 volt boiler burner type pump) takes suction from the bottom of a horizontal barrel. It sucks the oil through a 10 micron Racor filter.
The pump discharges to a Cot brand 1 micron cartridge filter. The discharge has...
What a sweet concept! Look forward to progress reports. I also have a bobber that I bought all ready cut. I feel it is sort of like taking a pound dog to give it a good home! It may be a mutt, but I saved it and now it's my mutt!
I can tell you that some states, AK is one, require that if you use untaxed fuel you report the amount you use and pay them the few cents per gallon road tax. I am just getting my filter setup ready to go. I will be running a WMO mix within the next couple of weeks and I will be carrying my...
BTW - an earlier post in this thread showed 6lb/gall for diesel. #2 diesel fuel weighs about 7.15 lb/gall. according to my conversion charts. 200 gallons is 1430 lbs.
I am curious about rules also. I plan on going on the MVPA Alcan hiway convoy this next summer and would like to bring at least 200 gallons of waste oil with me. My thinking is that I will be less likely to be hassled about that "fuel" if it is in a DOT approved conveyance devise, properly...
west coast IBC totes
Does anyone know of a source in the Pacific northwest for these IBC totes? I would like to get a couple of the 220 gallon size or four of the 120 gallon size.
Mike- I thought my sis was going to break down and cry during that apple bowl! We are kind of isolated here in SE Alaska. The Anchorage/Fairbanks area has most of the population and all the roads. In SE our MV population is low, though there are a few. We have very few and very short road...
Will you let someone from SE Alaska be a hanger on to your PNW SS group? All my ties are in WA/OR and I will be back down that way when I retire, anyhow it rains here too! How bout them Dogs, er Cats, et Ducks, or was it Beavers?
