Well, I listed my M1028 on CL in Portland OR (in auto parts cause I'm cheap). Search all for CUCV it's the only one... if you want to see it. I do have a bridge plate that will go with it. $8250. I could clean it up a little more and take more pictures, probably this weekend. Appreciate your...
Even the originals weren't built that nice...they were mid 80's quality, but from what I have read, these aftermarket replacements don't at all fit right. What I would like to find(in a perfect world) is a place that would rebuild/recover the original, so it would go back on like it came off...
That sounds like a good deal especially if the generator works on your M1031. One of the requirements for the vehicles donated to fire depts is that they should be painted the colors of that accepting fire dept. Which is usually red.
I've been occasionally checking CL locally, and now expanded to adjacent states, but haven't seen anything. Either they sell quickly, and I've been missing them, or everyones holding on to them. I used to see some M1009's driving around, but not too many pickups. I haven't seen anything running...
I'm not up to date on vehicle prices these days, let alone CUCV prices. Except to know vehicles are way up compared to the pre-covid covid era. I tried to find anything listed on CL that was comparable without any luck. I saw one upgraded M1009 with M1008 running gear along with M1102 trailer...
Location is always important, but as a general rule, what are they going for these days, for one with no body cancer? I've checked CL in the PNW, with zero results, for any condition. I have a M1028, I'm thinking of selling, I want to get as much as possible, and can wait.
Asking for advice...
Are there any internal differences between M1009, M1008, M1028, and M1031? I've seen different numbers cast into the housing like 26, 28, 28HD maybe more, but I didn't know if one was better than another. If it came out of a CUCV are they all the same?
Thanks.
I've decided to re-use the one I have. If that turns out to be a bad idea, I know where to get a rebuilt one. As in Dirty Harry... I'm Feeling Lucky!
Thanks to all.
I don't know if it was bad in all gears. It wouldn't move. When put in drive it acted like I already removed the transmission. The transmission is out at this time. The drained fluid smells burnt to the n'th degree. What I was told from the gov't shop where I picked it up was that it's operator...
I have this M1028 that has a cooked transmission. I bought it this way from the Gov't. It was only used as a campground truck. So I'm thinking someone abused it in possibly 1 episode. The fluid was good in the transfer case. It has 37k miles on it that probably are original.
I can't find a new...
Ethanol is bad on carbs, even the fiberglass gas tanks on vintage motorcycles. Don't let it sit in your old vehicle that was built before ethanol was introduced. Nothing but problems!
The guy who originally posted was concerned about high octane being bad for his engine. The reality is he would only get better performance/more power/run cooler with high octane. It would have no detriment except it cost more. The problem is the R6602 can't take advantage of the higher octane...
I saw this old post and just thought I'd add that that engine is the biggest or I guess the second biggest gas hog I have ever owned in a truck. Anyone that can afford to run and work one of these pigs, I guess can afford the extra cost of non-ethanol too. They do make nice power, and sound...
I've got the jeep mount(?) for the GRC19, but if it came with legs(?) I don't have those. I do have a R392, T195/b to go on the M851 mount. The M851, looks to me, fit on a platform of some kind that I think was meant to fit between the fenders of a M38 or M38a1. I haven't had much luck finding...
Those Warn and Bellevue 8274 winches are really strong. I have mine attached to a stinger so I can mount it to a receiver when I need it. I don't like carrying around the weight all the time on the truck, because I only use it to pull something occasionally, and on my trailer, not as a recovery...
Still needing this transportation. I can expand the delivery destination to parts of neighboring states where we could meet for me to bring it home the last leg, if that helps. Also a Fastenal shipment from your western location is a possibility. Fastenal won't ship eastern US to the west coast...
