SO I started looking over my M105A2's, and noticed some things.
One of the trailers has landing legs at all 4 corners. I'm wondering what the purpose for this was? It also looked to have some type of leftover foam sealant, kind of like 3M foam tape residue on parts of the inside of the...
I have no idea where owatonna is, but I have a pickup coming up in little falls, mn probably next week if you can get them to WI, I can bring them that way. Might be interested in 6 if they come through my way too.
That pic is just what I needed to see. I figured I could make them fit, but just wasn't 100% sure. Are they pretty good about helping load up there?
Lane, how did your recovery at Sparta go? I wish I could have helped you pick them up.
Thanks for everyones input.
Hauling M105's - Recovery
******UPDATE:
Did the recovery today, went very well. Several others getting their trailers there as well.
Loaded them backwards to what was recommended here, John(??) the site mgr said he loads most of them this way. Had too much touge weight at first, but...
Yup, it does go over the center point, and there is a power down.
Mine will keep going up and the cylinder will stop, kind of like their is a bypass internally when it tops out, I can actually see the bed float away from the cylinder end a little (I have some play in the cylinder end and the...
Mike up there is great. I've driven two home from up there that he said were running in the auction details. If it was labeled driven in, I would be pretty comfortable driving something home from sparta. Just check all the little stuff.
Equipmentparts or something like that has cheap disks (check their ebay store).
OD iron has the pressure plate, but it's expensive. I think I got the last one from saturn.
For me the biggest pain was torquing the flywheel to spec. and getting the trans re-installed. Even with an alignment...
So I thought my control box was bad on my 818, and that is why it wasn't cranking.
I did a little trouble shooting today, and the relay in PCB is working. I have 24V to the starter, and the ground seems fine. When the switch is turned to start I have 24v to the trigger wire on the starter...
I don't know about sheeting, but I've seen them use these lead sticks (can get from eastwood I think) and sort of melt them into the metal work (just enought so it gets gooey, but not liquid). It was often used to fill instead of bondo in the old days.
You could fill the holes w/ lead. Personally I would hate to put any bondo on one of these vehilces. Also, it would seem the bondo or fiberglass would eventually lift if there were any rust at all left on the surface.
I've seen some fiberglass rust repairs in the past and they did NOT turn...
I dont' remember if this worked when working on mine or not, but you can try. Disconnect the plug to the turn signal switch and check for the 12v power. Then using the schematic from the TM jump to each turn signal to see if it works.
Should help narrow down the problem a little.
If I was gonna snag something I'd try for one of the many Hemmt's I see parked around the area. There were about 12 of them there this past monday. Have seen lots of MTVR's there too awaiting transport.
