    fail-proofing full hydro steering

I know this is an old thread, but I had to comment and give my experience with full hydro. I've owned 2 rigs with full hydro, and at any given time usually had 3-5 rigs in my shop equipped with it also. All of the rigs with systems that where built for that vehicle drove as good or better than...

    PTO help

If you come across one let me know, this winch has my restoration on hold. If I can't find one by next week I'm going to take a pto box and my extra trans to a couple big truck driveling shops and see if they can make something work. My other option is to make a t case pto box.

    PTO help

Thanks for the heads up, I'm familiar with the lash and how to set them up. I pulled all of these boxes apart and everything seem very simple if I had the right gear.

HAHA, I wish. I've scored some cool parts, but never a whole truck. Thanks for the help!

    PTO help

Well that kinda sucks. The shaft clears the master cylinder with all three of the boxes I have, I bolted them up and hooked the shaft up, I just have to angle it down about 15 degrees which puts it perfectly inline with the input on the winch. It just clears the air tanks too. I'm not worried...

    PTO help

Didn't know they had one, I'm guessing it bolt to an output shaft somehow? The deuce T case has no 6 bolt pto locations. The winch already has the drop down chain drive and running the shaft back from the trans seems easy. Like mentioned I have 3 boxes that will work but the gear mesh is not...

    PTO help

Hey guys, I'm installing a Braden 20K winch in the rear of my deuce and I've got some question. First, does anybody know if you can reverse the shaft in the pto boxes used for the factory front winches? Meaning pull the shaft and install it in the other side of the box for a rear application...

    Four wheel steering

Sounds good. One thing I learned is do not mount the pump where it can get wet, the motor is not sealed well enough to be exposed to the out doors all the time. Other than that, it's very easy to hook up, get some lines made and mount a ram. If your using the stock tie rod location use a...

    Four wheel steering

Almost the same system on two rigs worked great.

    Four wheel steering

Haldex is the brand pump I used, they are around $500 and work great. Only issue is I don't know if they come in 24 volt. You should be well under $1500 for a good reliable system.

    Four wheel steering

I've had rear steer on two rigs now. Like mentioned run a electric over hydraulic pump and a switch to control the rear, you need a pump for double acting cylinders. DO NOT EVER hit the rear steer at speeds over 15 mph, it gets very uncontrollable very fast.

    Huge Turning Circle

The push, pull style steering is well known for doing stuff like this. Let someone steer the truck while you look under the truck. The amount the leaf springs move will blow your mind. I got so tired of trying to fix the steering on my truck, I did crossover and never looked back.

    deuce hyd power steering

I don't want to start an argument, but mechanical links can fail just as easy. A well designed full hydraylic system will out perform mechanical steering. I have a lot of experience with these systems and it comes down to the parts you use and if there installed properly. My crawler and many...

    deuce hyd power steering

We just mounted a saginaw p pump on my duece last weekend, it's tight but fits great. I'll get pics up soon.

    Front leaf springs

Rear springs up front is a great upgrade, but it moves the axle forward a couple inches. Driveline and steering would need to be addressed.

    Front leaf springs

Inverted springs is normal on all of the straight axle Chevy's. That's how they came from the factory. I put Skyjacker springs on mine and it rode great. 4" lift springs and shackle flip will get you the best ride.

    Cummins 5.9L in a Deuce?

I guess it's your area, there are a couple 03 and later common rail trucks around here that have around 500k and had very little engine problems.
