I'd haul it to the Philly area of PA if I had a definite plan to drop off some equipment on LI in the next few weeks. I'd be coming home with an empty M101, which would fit a 788 awkwardly.
I used to live in Huntington on LI, and worked in Manhattan for a while. Every time I drove a large...
Anyone going to Ft Meade with some trailer and yard space in the next 10 days?
I have to pick up a 1000lb 51"x64" steel box, I'd really like to do it in more flexible hours than GL's. I can pick it up any evening or weekend, so you wouldn't need to hold it longer than time of pickup to that...
Supposedly, diesel is .70 per gallon in Iraq, don't know what it is in Afghanistan. We're not allowed to fuel our equipment with that, only American contracted fuel. Pretty goofy. I'm sure if there's a contractual reason, it's not for the benefit of the country as much as the benefit of the...
I always wonder how they calculate things like that.
Do they take all money spent and divide it by individuals present for one year? That wouldn't be an accurate representation of the cost per warrior. You could drop $3 million in munitions whether you have 300 people or 300,000 people present...
Have you run any of them?
I'd be a little curious how the compression and cylinder walls are after 20+ years without even being cranked or loaded, even with preservation oil.
If they're all good, nice score!
It went great. :-D I've done it at 2 sites now. But I bought an equipment trailer I'll be using to haul them from now on.
They would not help with any more than lifting the overturned trailer onto the upright one, they don't want to be liable for anything going wrong during a flip operation...
Nah, power is fine, wife's out of town for the night...
Doghead thanks, I saw those in Walmart last night, but I could not figure out if they were diesel compatible. That link you sent me says "do not use with diesel", so Walmart's out. It sure would be nice if they carried auto parts...
Hopefully this isn't a tired question, I couldn't find it in a search. I'm sure I can't be the first to think of this, though.
I can't find a good fuel filter replacement for my Mep geographically near me. I want to get it fired up tonight, and Lowes/Home Depot have the heating oil filters on...
I agree, I was watching those Ft Dix units and couldn't believe what people were bidding. I've noticed everything goes for crazy money in Jersey.
The units at Meade went pretty high, too.
I previewed the rebuilt 003's at Chambersburg, and they were in extremely nice shape, looked very recently...
Do you mean apocalypse or in general?
2 50 gallon drums with a Mep-002 would last over a week, and you should be able to get fuel in that period. A 275gal home heating oil tank should last almost a month.
I feel like I'm being inefficient... I have an empty pickup bed and will have several feet of trailer real estate free tomorrow. The two SS members I was going to recover for ended up going already (I know, it's hard to wait...).
Nobody else needs anything pulled from Chambersburg or Meade...
When I was there for an M101, I was early and had to wait. Matt got me loaded out in about 45 seconds, then helped me out at cost to his schedule later the same day. Good guy, drives a mean forklift.
The woman at the gate was nice enough to me. She's not employed by GL, though, she's with DRMO...
Thanks, I've picked up a trailer and hung out for hours waiting for an invoice to pick up a mep once before. I like that site, Matt's a good guy to bs with and it wasn't crazy busy. Although with the number of units they sold last week, I think it'll be pretty busy the next few weeks.
