Heading to Chambersburg and Ft Meade 1/31

Heading to Chambersburg and Ft Meade Tomorrow - Bueller? I'm in Chester county PA, heading to Chambersburg in the morning tuesday 1/31, then Ft. Meade for the afternoon, then back home. Anyone with a small item in need of hauling, like a MEP, let me know, I can help you out for some fuel...

Mep's from Ft Meade or Chambersburg to Chester county, PA

I have an appointment for the same day at each site, and the means to haul everything in one trip. Lucky me, I managed to cluster it with other time off work since they have soooooo many loadouts from that event, there's no way they'll get them all in the 10 day window.

Mep's from Ft Meade or Chambersburg to Chester county, PA

No offense taken, I can recover them myself, but getting them in the evening or a saturday would be a lot easier. I misspoke, I want to avoid taking 2 days off from work if I can. I'm not looking for anyone to be inconvenienced, more like asking for help if anyone's going that way. I apologize...

Mep's from Ft Meade or Chambersburg to Chester county, PA

edit: This is just about worked out. I'm looking for a hand hauling up a trailer from Ft. Meade to PA... Any chance someone local to Meade could pick it up and keep it in their driveway for a day or two? I can meet just about anywhere on the route from PA to Meade. Also, I need to pick...

AZ will not title HMMWVs as of today

I might just say, "Ok, but can you title my motorcycle? It's realllllllly safe, especially since it's capable of over 120mph. That'll help me get out of the way real fast of any rampaging unsafe 55mph HMMWV's." There's so much un-safe stuff on modern highways, any restriction from a safety...

    Running a MEP-005a in a Shed

Good thread, I was planning to put a mep-002 or 003 in a block wall shed for weather protection, noise control, and fire isolation. Cooling was something I was a little worried about... I'm planning to put the generator in the same shed/building as a coal boiler. I want to cool the genset but...

    Gensets from GL today

As long as he doesn't trash it... :-D:oops: Come by my place and let me buy you a beer friday. You can make fun of my welding and the OD stuff I'm piling up...

    Gensets from GL today

I'd set the bottom of the lunette in the pintle at 19" above level ground. With the 1200lb genset load in the trailer already, that should be level or with a slight bias toward the tow vehicle, which is what you'd want. My M101's ride at that height unloaded and have a slight pitch forward so...

    Gensets from GL today

It's an M116a2, which is the frame for the M101a2. Look up a tech manual for the M101 and you'll be all set, it covers the 116 as well. If I were local, I'd love to give you a hand with recovery, but I'm a bit far...

    Gensets from GL today

No, unfortunately I didn't preview any. I did preview several in a previous event a while back, and I've bought several trailers, 1 genset, and shop tools so far. I've found the auction pictures seem to always look better than reality, but that doesn't mean it's going to be bad. Sometimes it is...

    Gensets from GL today

I haven't read a manual yet, but is the 24v stator absolutely necessary and deeply integrated? Is it possible to throw a 12v automotive alternator on with a 12v starter, and use one big marine battery? Fabricating alternator brackets might be easy, and rewinding the starter for 12v might be...

    Gensets from GL today

Fireman, that was a pretty nice looking unit, I bid on it early on, but really wanted a 10kw. Let me know if you want to part with the trailer. :) Not sure who said it, but the problem I have with propane is fueling during a widespread outage. If I need to refuel a diesel, I can get a home...

    Gensets from GL today

Man, I'd love to pick up that 003 if it's cheaper than GL... But I think the ride down there at 10mpg might just make me bid to win in the next event up here...

    Gensets from GL today

Yeah, compared to civilian diesel continuous duty gennies, they're a great deal even at today's closing prices...provided they work. The reason they don't sell for their street value as running condition is that you have no idea what's under the hood and get no guarantees that your money's not...

    Gensets from GL today

Just wondering if this is the norm, or an unusual spike because of the northeast's funky weather and power outages.

    Gensets from GL today

Anyone win some today? I bid on several, didn't win any. Seems like they were much higher than I've sen in the past. Is that about right, or am I just not used to the prices? I could swear I've seen 003's go for under $1000 several times in the past year.

trailer tailgate chain canvas NSN? size dimensions

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks. I also just remembered, a trailer I blasted and repainted didn't have the canvas on the chains. After the first 4 hour haul, the chains had worn off the new paint down to shiny new metal in a perfect arc under the chain links contacting the trailer. Canvas...

trailer tailgate chain canvas NSN? size dimensions

I like that cable look. I think the canvas will accelerate rust on your chains. As long as you don't need the chains made quiet, you're probably better off without the canvas covers. I personally like the canvas over chains, but going without them is probably a little better.

the bad lot of trailers Uncle Sam got

The bad lot were the first run of 1101's. The goal was a higher speed off-road trailer for the HMMWV. They used an aluminum drawbar that turned out to be way under-engineered and cracked either at the lunette or the brake actuator, and resulted in trailer-tow vehicle separation. I read about it...

    My recovery of (2) M101A3's

I'd say you're cutting it close, but Justin at Ft Meade is a very nice guy and will probably be happy to help you get in and out quick. All but once I've taken longer than expected. The time is usually my own doing, but there were a few times I had to wait for other customers to load out and my...
