    Re-Painted Trailers - VSE...?

Yup... Check out the pic. Apparently they left a razorblade on the lip and just sprayed over it. This is on a trailer I gave my brother in law. edit: Nevermind, no idea where the pic went. It was a photo of a razor blade encased in carc on the edge of the trailer.

    Pintle Hitch for M101A3

Generally, you're better off with the trailer slightly angled toward the tow vehicle anyway. If you load it at it's full 2000lb cap, it will drop a little bit anyway and you'll end up having the tongue too high if you level it unloaded. Also, perfectly level might affect your max speed with an...

    M101A1 tires

Did you put those 265's on a Budd/A1 rim, or an A2 rim?

What numbers are you using for you registrations/title?

NY has a government run DMV you have to use for any vehicle/driver related transaction. Most of the time, the person behind the counter doesn't know how to handle unusual procedures and you have to budget out at least a day to find the right person. If You call the DMV office, they have a really...

    M101A1 Light Flip

I've been thinking the same thing but haven't tried it yet. Good to know it'll work fine... Was there a reason to swap sides? I have a few of these lights on my workbench, they don't appear to be side-specific from what I remember.

    M101A1 tires

I thought this was going to be a post about the 1960's tires on the A1's leaving the government lately. Probably a problem worth it's own thread... But if I may hijack this thread... Is it possible to put regular light-duty truck tires on the A1/Budd rims? Does the split ring matter? Westy, is...

What numbers are you using for you registrations/title?

I feel for you guys on LI. I moved off LI about a year ago. I do not miss the DMV... That said, no one mentioned Maine registration. You can mail order a tag from Maine for $90. I haven't tried it myself, but I probably will soon to speed up the process of legitimizing some of my trailers.

    Trailer Theft

When I leave a 101 trailer connected to the TV out on a corner far from sight (IE with a "For Sale" sign), I run a chain from the trailer drawbar to the TV receiver with a padlock. I also don't use extended safety chains normally, so you can't unhook the safety chains unless you turn the...

Yes we all know 101's aren't designed to dump!

I was looking into a hydraulic dump mechanism. I got into the engineering and drew it out, then figured for all the hassle, add-on parts, welding, re-fabricating of joints, etc, I could add an outboard ram to the rear, a (fold-up hideaway style) ram to the front, and just unhook it and lift the...

Yes we all know 101's aren't designed to dump!

I shovelled 2000lbs of gravel out of a 101 bed yesterday. I would've liked to get it to dump, but the tailgate would've been trashed by my loader. Tailgate is the other big pain in the arse about making it dump.

Anyone haul (2) M101A3 on an 18' car trailer before

Roady, 16' is plenty for your trailers. I've hauled (2) A2's on a 16' deck with no problem and a little room to breath. Like others have said, run at least one strap around the axle. The military put tie-down points on the frame to make it brainless and easy, so a couple chains or straps...

    m101a2 parts

I think I ran into you last week at Chambersburg... I'm the guy that was in the black truck across from you. How about a whole new axle and 5/6-lug wheel conversion? I've seen 3500lb axles at tractor supply for not all that much. Make sure you check the spindle/bearing grease, they probably...

My M101A3 pulls like a dream

All three, A1, A2, A3, tow extremely well. I've hauled 3 or 4 2000-3000lb loads of gravel in my A2 and A3 with a half-ton tow vehicle, smooth as butter. On my last gravel haul, I picked up an A2 from a GL lot, and on the way home, figured what the heck, I'll stop and grab another load of...

    Matt @ Chambersburg

I gotta give Matt a big thumbs up. Next recovery I do there, I'll bring a box of donuts or a coffee. I had a scheduled recovery that went ultra-quick, then a slightly more complicated, unscheduled recovery I wanted to squeeze in the same trip, and Matt was very cool about it. He had his work to...

Towing an M101A with a Cover

Why?!?! Is there any logical reason for it? If you don't have to demil a trailer or complete duece, why the parts? Doesn't make any sense to me...

    M101A2 violent braking!

Note! If you have one of these trailers with a worn shock, and you disable the brakes and procrastinate replacing the shock, check all the bolts holding the actuator on the trailer, and lunette onto the actuator. I found the a-frame bolts under-torqued, and the lunette bolts very loose. If the...

    M101 trailer VIN's

I've done about 6 of these trailers with short vins (6-10 characters) in PA. None have ever been a problem, but they take about 2 months for Penndot to issue a title. No tag place ever had an issue with the vin length, so I'm surprised you got an insistence on a 14-digit vin. Maybe they meant...

    M101 trailer VIN's

I seem to have found a standardized 17 digit vin just before submitting an EUC request... They're out there now and then.

    Painting a M101 trailer

I did a full bed interior with a little over a quart per coat of bedliner rollered. I used about 4 rattle cans on an exterior once. Good post, at some point I'll repaint a couple with a spray gun. Helpful info to have early.
