I really have trouble believing that. I don't know why I didn't see it the first time I was going to set up an A1 for dumping, but I recognized it in this discussion.
When the drawbar pivots on those two bolts, it's assembly angle (not tilt angle) stays the same, while the spring mounts are...
Why not just open the pintle and tilt the whole thing?
if you're going to limit it, use straps/chains. Once the load starts moving to the back of the trailer during dump, it might just decide to tilt all the way anyway.
It seems to be arbitrary. I bought 1 M101 out of Havre De Grace with no EUC, and 2 a week later requiring EUC's. 1 in Chambersburg from the same sale, didn't require EUC.
Sorry Mike, I don't know how I never saw your offer til today... I'd go to VA if I could do it after GL hours, but at this point, I took off work and am scheduled to go to Chambersburg tomorrow.
And like any crack fiend, I looked at what else I could get while there, and am now a high bidder on...
They were made to be towed behind half-tons with the cover on. I towed an A1 with the cover on at 70mph for 3 hours on several occasions. No problems except 8 mpg...
If you have an impact wrench, deep impact sockets, lots of liquid wrench and time, you can probably do it in your driveway.
Price might not be too bad, it looks they're pretty cheap;
4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,000-lb Trailer Axles Redline Trailer Suspension PR427
You'd probably want...
Nope, but you can wrap a chain between the axle and the frame to lower the other side and even it out... Just reduce your payload to 300lbs... rofl
Springs can be re-arched if they're not broken, but buying a new pair is probably the more economical way to go.
I'd say weak or broken spring also. Jack up the trailer by the frame on that side and see if you can level it without the axle coming up, too. A bent shock holding the spring compressed seems extremely less likely than the spring being squashed.
Not a whole lot to else to check between the...
Your A2 will probably have better tires than the takeoffs from your truck... Every one I've ever seen has had near-new tires on it. They're a little taller and skinnier than I like, but still good.
Heck, I might just buy a few more A2's when I need tires for my Tahoe...
I have a HF magnetic light set. They've never fallen off in about a dozen uses, but I've zip-tied them down several times just in case. Never had a wiring problem, but they are incredibly dim. I'd almost be better off leaving the 24v bulbs in the mil lights and plugging into my 12v truck.
I recently picked up an early A3 listed as an A2.
I've also picked up A2's listed as A1's.
I've had A1's stacked inverted on an early A3 and A2's, the bed rails line up exactly the same, but later A3's have more inner space between the fenders. You can tell a later/HMMWV A3 from an earlier...
I have one M101 to recover from Chambersburg, and two to recover from Maryland. The MD units are waiting on an EUC clearance, but the Chambersburg unit is ready to go.
Anyone nearby Chambersburg that can pick that one up and park it for a few hours? I just need to be able to come get it after...
Has anyone ever tried that? I took measurements to do that on my M116a3, but found the reduced axle-to-frame clearance would really reduce the payload. I've found 2000lbs of gravel in the bed lowers the trailer a few inches.
If someone's successfully done that, I would love to see how they did...
Is that how it's supposed to work? :-)
I ended up using a hacksaw to cut up the rubber and peel it off. I would've much rather have been able to do it cleanly...
It is possible, whoever's picking it up has to have an authorization form. I think it's on the invoice.
I really don't want to go get just one, it's a 2 hour one way trip for me. But it is a little cheaper in that I get my normal 11mpg one way...
I think York is pretty far from me, too. I'm...
Yeah yeah... Just your plain jane M101. Although, it's camo, so my camo cover will look a little better matched than it does on my solid green trailer. There's a slim chance I'll donate one to a local boy scout troop if this one's really nice.
