Thanks, and I have a rebuild kit from Big Mike that I've been holding on to and was hoping since the parts all looked good I could continue to save it for an emergency.
I'll use it to replace the parts I put back in. It would be nice if I could pick up just the rubber bits and keep them w/ the...
So if we're going w/ the cup being swollen I'm interested in how that happened.
This is an MC that has been in use (though I have been having issues w/ it),
has had dot 5 always,
I took it apart and did have to push it out from the other end (but not w/ a lot of effort if I remember...
The return hole is clear (thats been a main focus of mine) and it doesn't feel like a weak spring, it feels like the piston and/or cup is tight. If I push the piston in it takes quite a bit of effort but then it does dump a bunch of fluid out the back side. The piston then comes back to about...
Since we're both doing this work at the same time I feel like I should just keep posting here instead of starting something new, hope we're all good w/ that
So I did a small amount of honing just to get off some surface stuff, cleaned it out w/ brake cleaner, let it dry, then lubed the...
Thank you for that thread link! It explained why I was having trouble finding a breakdown of the MC, `cause they didn't want them getting rebuilt by us lowly individuals.
I would be happy if rubber lasted out here in the desert, unfortunately it has a real short life span so every time I use it as some type of self-made gasket I better be on the lookout for a replacement right away.
I did have to laugh the other day when I was reading on how to bleed the system...
No, I have the G177s and I have them singled w/o flipping the hub. I know . . . I've heard that this can be hard on the bearings but I like the wider stance and I dont really carry loads in the bed other than personal stuff, I pull trailers instead.
As far as single verses dual, I feel singled...
Speaking of overhaul kits, what about the gasket that goes under the cap? Is that a make your own if you're not doing a rebuild? Mine is breaking up.
Nevermind, I found them for sale.
Since I use a remote resavoure I was planning on using the same type/size quick release on that line and the pressure bleeder tank that I have.
I was asking about the tube that goes onto the bleeder screw fittings when bleeding into a container.
No shop air out here in the field.
Ok, some things to note,
I was not gentle enough w/ the new felt and ripped it. At that point I took a two pronged approach and glued the ripped pieces back together, but I also cleaned up the one that was in previously to evaluate that one. When it came time to install I decided that the...
1/4" air brake line is said to work if you don't want clear line. You may have to get different fittings though. I haven't done it but it gets talked about a lot so you should be able to find multiple theads about it.
If you want the clear line I've always gotten mine from McMasters, the...
I can relate to that. We built out an M109 and put 395s on it. It would stay on top of any terrain we went through, super soft sand, mud, but it was harsh in really rocky terrain where a rock only contacting part of the tire would try taking the steering wheel out of your hands and monuvering...
The answer is yes, you have to separate the two parts of the piston. I went back and looked at the rubber cup in the parts kit and it definitely only comes off and a new one goes on if the two pieces are separated. I did manage to separate them by running a thin blade in between the two parts...
Thanks! I was starting to think the days of getting responses on the deuce section of the forum was in the past.
I did use wood in the vice and got the nut off w/o much of a problem. The issue is w/ the piston head, which is made up of two parts - the "follower " which holds the felt and the...
After carrying on w/ other parts of the rebuild I noticed that the compensator piston felt was also not glued together at the ends. Is that common and exceptable?
