I've been doing a little bit of work on the trailer tub and frame this week. Up until now, I removed the rear crossmember and had some channel bent at a local fab shop. I fabbed the channel into a crossmember with the end tabs and all of the holes matching the original. Today I sanded down the...
It doesn't cause a problem. I try to fill the MC all the way to the top and put the cap back on and make sure there is fluid all the way out to my quick connect before I hook it up. No problems doing it this way for the last 1.5 yrs
Condition and how complete it is are the main factors on price. Parts are getting EXPENSIVE. From your description, it could be a $500 or a $4,500 deal. If it is eaten up with rust and converted to a cj, $500. If you can spray it with starting fluid and it starts up, is all original and complete...
Yes it has! Too bad that TS Erika is going to bring a BUNCH of rain in a couple of days. Hopefully I can get this thing done over the next couple of times off. Maybe next year I will be able to bring the M38a1 and the M100 to the Denton rally instead of the deuce.
I got off work this morning and decided to take advantage of the 68deg morning weather. I started by cutting the turned down edges of the new floor off on three sides. I left the turned up edges on the front. I used a side grinder with a cutoff wheel on it instead of the plasma cutter. I removed...
Yeah, I've asked on the G and Willysmjeeps. No definite answers on either. I think that since my M38a1 is Army, I will just mark it the same. I have documented everything that I could uncover on the tub and frame in case the next owner wants to do more in depth research and do something...
Cool! Thanks for the info. Any idea what the C.M. ALMVSS under the process date could be? If the process date is correct, it would be a later model, so I wouldn't think it would have a ww2 style #. I don't know what to make of all the different clues - ww2 style tub #, 1954 process date stencil...
I started on replacing the floor today. I got the old one cut out and the rust cut out of the front panel and new metal put back in. This was the only day I could work on it this week off, so I am a little disappointed in the progress, but I WILL have the new floor in next week when I get off...
Yeah, I have all of the repeaters in a ~20 mile radius programmed in according to my app. I made contact with a couple of guys in the next town over (about ~15 miles away) that are on the radio almost every day. Listening to them talking is one of the reasons I wanted to get licensed. I haven't...
I bought a trailer floor from Bensinger for $300. My father in law was in the area last week on business, so he picked it up for me to save $100 shipping. I was finally able to get out to the shop today to look at it a little closer today.
- the metal thickness (without having a metal...
Here is a pic of my 2 group 31s in the plastic battery box. A third should fit. I had to turn the screws securing the handles around so that the heads were on the inside.

I coaxed mine into test driving around the field right after I bought it. She did pretty well also, but she hasn't been back in it since! It has been a bobber for over a year now - she keeps saying she is going to drive it, but hasn't yet. I think she will like it when she finally does, since...
I know what a job that is! Looks real good! I reworked mine on the bobber last year using white oak from a local sawmill and new hardware. My brother coated them with spar varnish for a different look.
Yeah, I remember asking you about it before we did ours. Yes, we used the front suspension on the rear - front hangers. We still haven't installed shocks though - that is on the short list though.
