New 1008 owner Turbo 6.2 or Yurbo 6.5

I would go with the 6.5 as it was designed to have a turbo. It would be risky to turbo the 6.2 without lowering the compression ratio, installing stronger head studs and a crank girdle. Thicker head gaskets can be used to lower compression. There is no proof of the crank girdle actually making a...

Changed fuel filter now truck won't start??

I replaced my spin on last month. I filled the filter to almost overflowing, and pinched the in and out fuel lines with needle nose pliers wraped in electrical tape before removing the old filter. This helps to keep the fuel from siphoning back to the tank. It fired right up with no...

    Hole in oil pan 6.2

There is a reason it blew up. If there are cracks in the lower end webbing, it's done and not worthy of a rebuild. Check the other core for cracks also. If the blocks are cracked, toss em. Rebuilding a 6.2 is costly unless you do it yourself, and finding a good 6.2 rebuilder can be difficult. A...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I finally installed a Kats 600w block heater. A few good wacks on the freeze out plug with a 10in long punch, and it was out. I did manage to punch the plug into the water jacket, but had no problem removing it with a needle nose pliers and channel locks. I lucked out. I had to run 100ft of 12ga...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I brought 1420# of sheet pile to the scrapper this morning. The gross was 8300#. Tare was 6880# with a half tank of fuel. I didn't think the truck was that heavy unloaded. I got $119.00 for #1 unprepared steel. I should have cut it up into prepared lenths and got more money for it.

The "Road Oiler" gets overdrive (700R4 Swap)

Hea Dwayne, The 700R4 swap in an M1031 is a bit more complicated as you will need to change the transmission output shaft, transfer case input shaft, and adapter. Search Advance Adapters for these parts, $$$. A gear vendors unit might be your best choice as you keep your drive train as is. My...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I dropped the transfer case and resealed the adapter to case with a gasket I made from some PVC roll roofing material I found at work. It started leaking after plowing snow last week. An in the driveway job, but I got it done.

    Truck won't move...

Hea Carlo, Just a few "storms" of less than 6" in my neck of the the woods. More up north, but nothing significant. I thought we were in for a harsh winter here as the squirrels were forraging like crazy, and the acorns were falling like rain in early fall. The farmers use these events...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Barneyrubble, It's fuel injector cleaner. It can be added to the engine oil before doing a change. It has been known to free up sticky lifters and loosen up sludgy buildup. Some don't like it as it contains alcohol. When added to a full fuel tank, there should be no issue. Power Service cetane...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I did an engine oil and fuel filter PM today. Fuel in the old filter was foggy green in color. I will have to draw a sample from the fuel tank. I didn't have the proper tubing to do so today.

Post Your CUCV Snow Pics Here!

Yup, the kids were tearin it up at Hen Hud the day I took this pic. The location of the pic is actually at Crugers Station Road in front of Ocawana Island Park entrance, so technically I think it's in Croton. I have lived in Ossining for 10 years now, but grew up in Brewster. Head north on I-684...

700r4 swap - core and rebuilt or "new"?

An improperly adjusted TV cable will cause what you call run-up, or flair. It's usually the 2-3 shift. The throttle valve controls shift points through line pressure. The right way to adjust the TV cable is to do it with a line pressure test, not just the mechanical tension adjustment for the IP...

700r4 swap - core and rebuilt or "new"?

Hea speddmon, Thanks for the feedback. Your right, the 700R4 was never ment to be in any 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. Thats why I stress the importance of really building these trans for the task at hand. I've heard guy's on other sites say their 700s will withstand 450+HP, mabey so in a 3400# Corvette...
