Thats the truck. I've had that truck as my avatar since I joined SS, I change the photo every once and a while. You have probably seen it with and without the plow rig on it as I take the rig off it in spring. I found it odd that you stated that the truck being a 1 ton may have been a factor in...
Hea iacucv, The 700 I had rebuilt was old, an 82, and may not have been worthy of a rebuild in the first place, but the tranny guy that had been referred to me did it anyway. It was rebuilt with high end quality parts. A shift kit and a throttle valve upgrade kit was also installed, along with a...
I've owend GM trucks all my life, and never had a speedometer or fuel guage work properly for any extended period of time in any of em. I bought my truck with a 700R4 conversion and 285/16 tires. the speedo was off by 20mph with the usual jumping around, ect. The cable finally broke so I just...
Hea Jay, The only thing I can think of to keep the fuses in place is to try to pinch the "tangs" closer togeather on each fuse terminal so they grip spade on the fuse. A small flat blade screwdriver would do the trick. Working from the top and bottom of each tang, try to carefully pry the tangs...
Beleve me when I tell you, an on the cheap 700R4 swap is really not the way to go, and a stock rebuilt 700 will not last very long in these trucks. Although the 700 was in production in 1986, GM used the TH400 in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks for a reason. I spent nearly $1800.00 on an old core 700 that...
Thanks scottladdy, I payed way too much for it. I bought it sight unseen. Engine runs fantastic, no blowby or smoke. I think it was rebuilt. The rest of it is a rust bucket. I have all the panels to fix it, but im not sure what im going to do with it.
Thanks for the kind words Jay, I live in the highest taxed county in the country, where everything is a shakedown to some degree
You can't even put up a metal shed in your back yard without having to file and pay a fee for some kind of permit. The $4.19 a gallon I pay is relitively cheap for...
Ok! Now put the injector lines back on tight and then back off one turn. I do two at a time as it makes less of a mess. Crank untill you see pure fuel with no air bubbles. Do not crank any more than 5 to 8 seconds with a cool down period in between. This is very important if you have not done...
If the electric fuel pump you installed is working properly, fuel should be pouring out of the fuel line going to the IP regardless of the engine turning or not. If it's just weeping, there is a restriction or a kinked line after the electric fuel pump or spin on filter install. Make sure the...
Also, make sure the pink wire, not the green wire is indeed going to the IP solinoid terminal. If you connected the pink to the cold start solinoid, that is what you hear clicking. If you have a bad temp switch and have crossed the wires, the IP solinoid will not energize. Im not sure if the...
Right where my transmission is suposed to be I found that magnetic hole that my ship the USS Nimitz drove into in The Final Countdown movie. It's been periodically sucking money out of my wallet. I wound a few hundred feet if 1/2in copper wire around it like they did in the Philadelphia...
Fully disconnect all the battery cables and clean them including the ground buss on the firewall and the engine ground wire or strap. You never know, bad grounds can cause problems.
If you guys recall, a few months back, a member had the same problem with the IP solinoid. After pages of posts and replys, it ended up being a bad engine ground. Sometimes we over think the simple solution. Not to brown nose, but im with DH. Trying to diagnose an issue thats scattered over...
