It looks like there will be another group of Military Vehicles on Goverment Liquidation in Ayer Ma. The last time there was a auction this big, I had made arrangement with some SS to pick up trucks if they won the auction. In the end we picking up a beautiful M931 for a Member in Michigan.
So...
I was getting 65 mph when my m813 had them on it. Remember the tires will throw your speedometer off. I got my speed calculation from a app on my iPhone. 63 is a nice cruising speed.
Thanks Adam for posting up the pictures. Your truck looks great!
I had these tires on my M813 for the COMVEC show last month. I put about 700 miles on them. They ride great! I like them better than my Michelin 1600R20s. Glad to see they went to a good home. I have more of these listed for sale...
Hey Indy4x4fab! I guess lightning can strike the same place twice! roflNo she was not the one from the salvage yard! I must say, she is better.:-P
She even reserved the camping and vender spots for us at the Weare NH. Rally.
I have my Camping spot and Vender spot already! I have a bunch of new Titan T hawks 1100-20 and ton of new NATO tread 1400-20 tires to bring. Packing the truck M813 and M103 with all kinds of goodies too!
They made 290 small cam motors too. There are formula 290's too. I haven't looked at the spec for the formula motors yet. I hear that they were more light duty? But can't say for sure
The easiest transplant would be another Cummins 855 block motor, like a Cummins 290 or 350. A 400 Cummins would be to powerful for a spicer 5 speed transmission. I am putting a 290 in my M813 this week. I know that others here have put in the smaller cummins motors with some success. It all...
Thanks for all of the positive response. She is something special. We are going to the Weare NH. rally in July too. I will be really putting her to the test that weekend. Nothing but military trucks, gear and camping in the woods! I am not sure who asked but, that is a IBIS light bar over the...
I meant larger trucks don't accelerate fast or stop fast! M35 don't have power steering those. That kind of thing. Good luck with your next military truck.
There are plenty of trucks for sale here on SS. The prices maybe a little higher but you will be buying from a guy who knows about the truck. Gov liquidation can be a good place too! The most important thing is to know about what you are buying. Good luck and read up in the forums.
I work as a heavy truck mechanic and I have redone all of my hubs. The seals in our trucks are very similar to early Mack hub seals. The main reason that I think our axles leak is old seals, lack of maintenance and BAD axle vents. I am changing my axle vents to civi vents and changing my hubs to...
You always want so toe in 1/8 in pretty universal. You should jack up the front end to check it though.
1. Jack up the front end some both tires are about a inch of the ground.
2. Put the truck on jack stands
3. Have a friend turn the tire by hand while you hold a straight head screw driver...
