Glad the phone call to the cops worked out for you. It is nice to be right too! I would keep that troopers name and number with your registration for safe keeping. Welcome to the world of the big boys.
see you found a level winder and tensioner. They all need to be torn down and greased. I left one of the wheels out of the tensioner and the cable end slid right through, then put the wheel in.
good to see the truck is coming together. Did you take off the fifth wheel and ramps to get the center section in?
anyone would be luck to receive those tires. they are in great shape.
1400's are the biggest you can go with out changing studs or the front tires rubbing the steering arm. I have 1600's on my truck this is how I know. I really want 1400's. But I couldn't find any good ones. Most of them out there are sun faded, dry rotted or have uneven wear. Always buy local if...
You are suppose to get 1.5 mph per inch over stock tires. So If you have 42 inch tall 1100R20 and go to a 52 inch tall 1600R20. That is 10 inches x 1.5 mph=70 mph +/-. I haven't confirmed this in my truck yet. But the bigger you go the less power you have. 1400's are the best tire for 5 tons...
I hope he is a friend?! Calling the cops is never a good idea. That is like asking the IRS if you are paying enough taxes. I guess 5 pages of advice from guys that have been running their trucks legally in Ma. isn't much help. If you are that intimidated, maybe you should not get a 5 ton?
I have a M813 in registered in Mass. as an Antique. I drive mine all the time. If you ever get pulled over and the troop says it can't be done. Just explain that the big Uhaul trucks and Ryder trucks are over 26000 GVW and you don't need a CDL or a health card. Also those tour bus size RV's...
have you disconnected your fuel return line and put on a temp line into a bucket. this will tell you if the check valve is making the noise. It sounds like you have been doing your homework. I would try to add the front fuel line to even out the fuel to your injectors. Next after that would be...
F18hornetM I think you should post your question as a new thread. I was having starting issues with my M813. I found that I had to redo almost all of the connections on the battery box area. 5 hrs later the truck starts right up!
Going to check out a junk yard that is closing up. He has a few m39 and m809 series trucks that he is parting out. I will go next week and take pictures.
Check out the event calendar on COMVEC military vehicle club in Conn. They are a great bunch of people and their calendar posts up all the shows in the New England Area! If you read this whole thread you will see most of the shows in the area too!
I have been going to the Mansfield Ma. Swap meet for over 10 years. It is held at the Comcast center that use to be Greatwoods proforming arts center. If you do a search online you will find the info on it.
I am a vender at the Mansfield swap meet at the Comcast center on Mothers day weekend. It is the same weekend as Aberdeen show, so if we guys don't go you can stop by to trade/buy/sell military parts with me! I am across the row from the Bumper Boyz. I will keep some cold ones on ice for who...
