Hasson, makes some sense, however the limit is what, 2500lbs at 19'? With the boom in it is 4500lbs, I think, and I believe I could grab a jeep or some other small 4x4 and drop it on.
Regarding the mix of tractor HEMTTs or MK48 w/MK16 RBUs, by my quick calcs, 65% of what has been sold so far...
How did you get to the front valve stems? I have replacements for all 8 wheels, but last time I looked, I couldn't figure out how in the world one gets to them without removing a wheel!
Thanks Karl, Virginia is quite a nice place to live. It's a place you could still live off the land if you had to, plenty of water etc.
I score a rebuilt/new HT740 for the HEMTT just in case at a GL auction. Anyone know how to re-pressurize the storage case?
I've used my Jake a few times on the descents over the winding mountain passes between Cleveland, VA and Lebanon, VA. First truck I've driven with one, and man is it nice compared to riding the brakes. If I have one complaint about the HEMTT its that the air tanks very quickly drain with...
If I am ever lucky enough to have a piece of armor, and need vision blocks, I would have them made of very thick polycarb, cut on a water jet machine. We have a nice one here at work and it can cut on angles etc, so I'm sure it would make short work of 2-4" polycarb or lexan. It might not be as...
Was it possible to fire that big gun when aiming perpendicular to the direction of travel? Even with that huge muzzle brake, I would imagine the recoil energy is fierce!
Always liked the looks of these, the gun seems massive for such a small vehicle. It's like a Ferrett with a giant cannon!
that front plate is exactly that I believe, a plate to be removed and placed under a wheel when stuck. I suppose it adds some much needed armor as well :-)
Hasson, I'll see if I can't get pictures of mine, won't be back with it for another few weeks sadly. 19 gallons!!! Wow, I suppose it was dry at the cap on the massive radiator?
Sure, there are road legal even. The are only 96" wide, which is actually 2" narrower than the 939 series 5-ton trucks. Here in VA it is farm tagged, and insured through State Farm.
RDUKW,
I think you might have nailed it. I didn't take them apart, but I did tighten them up and set them all to 80 PSI before I left. Any good source for the parts to replace, and how the devil do you get to the front ones?
So, some thoughts:
I am thoroughly impressed with this vehicle. I've owned four military trucks in the past, the two M35 based vehicles, an 800 series 5-ton and a 900 series 5-ton. The HEMTT is unbelievably capable in terms of off road areas. I have videos to come, but the articulation and...
