Question is: does this need lubrication? If so, with what?
I ask because while towing today, doing slow turns, it sounded like it was binding up. Everything looks good. The only fix I can think of is to throw some grease on it, but what?
One reason I was asking was because I've seen some CUCV at our favorite auction site have just the bars sticking out of the bumper and some have bars with D-Links hanging from them. I was sure you didn't hook the tow bar up to the D-Links.
Those tow bars that you are using look pretty hefty for...
I can't tell, but what model trailer? Does it have a parking brake?
Maybe just hooking it up to the truck and giving it a little gas would set it free?
Are you removing it for repair or replacement? Maybe flipping? I ask because I'm not sure if you're trying to protect the threads or not.
And...
Dually, Front wheel drive... Yeah. Only seen one of those, There was a Dually 4x4 Deuce on the local CL a few months ago, with a winch. I think the guy wanted $16k for it.
And it wasn't black...
That an entirely different matter. A sadder tale for these, of course.
My own trailer, needs mods just to be useful by me. As it sits, it isn't very handy. So modifying is the only way to go. They just don't make these things custom enough for regular people!
But they do leave them with...
Well, the plan was just to replace the rope with the super rope and use it like the old rope. Loop it in the eyes and then, because it doesn't tie like the old rope, I was going to get hooks, like bungie cords...
I'm not sure looping it through the eyes and then tying down will work right for me...
Thank you, Dale, for the Super Rope.
Now on to the next part of the mission: Finding parts that will hold for looping in the eyes in the cover. And for making hooks or what not for hooking onto the trailer hooks.
Thoughts? Hardware store was a no go. I'm not sure if the original bindings can...
Um, the trailer lights are because you most likely don't have a 24v system. And you need lights to tow, day or night.
The only other option is to sit there and rewire the connector to work, which includes bring 12v bulbs with you to swap out. The temp lights mean you can do that at home, not...
If you won two, as you say, you may want to have a buddy, that can tow one, go with you as well. Get both off the GL lot when you can, as the window is short. After your EUC clears, you have 10 days and you need to make an appointment, if I'm not mistaken.
Or have someone local (See Hundy) pick...
Just because I didn't give you enough grief....
nopics
Sounds like a fun trip, LEOs or no LEOs. Glad you made it safe and you got the truck you were after.
Now, get them pictures posted!
Of which we still have no pictures of.... :deadhorse:
Or a write up of the recovery... :deadhorse:
Just Kidding. I hope the family is doing better, Mike.
