I would keep looking for a 101. You will be unnecessarily towing extra weight that will serve no other purpose than burning fuel and wearing out your truck.
The 101's are perfect for a 1/2-3/4 ton truck or SUV..
If you will be taking it off road you will need a pintle that rotates.
Here is...
I never need any kind of assistance until it gets down around 40 degrees or so. At 70 it should start right up in about one second or so.. First thing I would do is check/replace all three fuel filters, bleed the air in the system and make sure the in tank pump is working you may also want to...
I was in Bahrain in 91. I was following a guy driving an a3 that went through a round-about too fast and got it up on one side. He turned right, into the role, off the road and into the sand and set it back down..
Andy..
Does anyone know what the fuel consumption of a MEP-200a is at say 50% load..? I curious about what kind of run time I could get out of 50Gal...
Thanks,
Andy.
I was thinking about that. 50 gal of fuel would be around 375lb.
Depending on how shifting the generator back would affect things it may be just a little heavy when full or I could just not full it completely unless it's stationary.
The Generator + 50 Gal Fuel + 100lb misc would bring the...
Ok, my plan is to mount a MEP002a in a M101a2 trailer with a deuce fuel tank in front. Install a muffler and route the exhaust toward the rear.
I want to roll up the front and back of the cargo cover when running but leave the top and sides on.
Does anyone see any issues with that...
This is how I did my plate.
It uses the same size bulb as the small bulbs for the other signal lights so I was able to easily swap out the 12v for a 24v..
I just tapped into wire 21. I was lucky that my truck already had a splitter installed.
It's not like you just checked it out of the motor pool and you have never seen it before. Most of us know our trucks so well that any significant leak or change in sound or other characteristics would be obvious to us.
The one thing I pay close attention to is the oil pressure when first...
I like the ammo box.
I have been looking at putting a tool box on my 101 but didn't think it would look right.
That looks like it was designed that way..
Andy.
One thing I discovered about using a rattlecan is to only paint when there is almost no wind. If it's the least bit windy you will have the tendency to put the can too close to compensate and get a crapy paint job...
Here is a pic of my dad’s truck I painted with Krylon…
Andy.
From the way they designed the installation of the fuel pickup you can tell it was an engineer and not a mechanic. I purchased m-m and f-f fittings and opened up the m-m a little for the pickup tube and soldered it. Then flipped the elbow they included and used the f-f fitting. Works like a...
We have fire!!
I had negative results after cleaning and reassembling it and I was getting frustrated so I walked away for a few hours. I decided to walk out and give it one more try for the night and it fired right up.
I would highly suggest that anyone installing a used or even NOS heater...
Ok, I found a thread where Mangus suggested cleaning the fuel control pump. I removed it from the heater, and cleaned all the orange crap out of it. Cleaned all the passages and reassembled. The solenoid now clicks when pressing start, didn't do that before but still no fire. I removed the fuel...
I assumed that the nipple above the fuel inlet was a bleeder valve. I bled it for several minutes. At first I got some small bubbles and then it ran clear.
Still no fire!!
Andy...
I would bet that the ticking is the fuel pump at pressure. It will run and when it reaches pressure it will tick.
I just finished my install and I have power, I have fuel but no fire.
Does anyone know if the heater will start in "warm" weather"?
It's only about 103 F here today  but...
