The size difference between your 10 ton version and the 5 ton version is almost the same difference as the 2.5 vs 5.
With the heavier gear reduction hubs of a 10 ton I would think about making the bottom piece a complete semi-circle that would attach to 6 lugs.
I believe this is what Mrgior31513 was talking about as a way to reduce the shipping size/cost and I think this could work. The bottom part with 4 lug nuts attached would to the work and the top ring would attach with 2 lug nuts to help maneuver the hub. When not in use these two parts would...
doghead, thanks for the link. It seems those valve are made of gold for what they want for them. Isn't it just a ball valve?
I like the repair option the most so I will tear into it soon and replace whatever o-rings and seals I find.
My fuel shutoff valve has 2 leaks currently since doing the dual fuel mod and loosening up the valve. The big leak around the threads I think I'll thicken up with teflon tape if those are pipe threads and if they're straight then maybe a new o-ring is in order. The leak at the shaft has me a...
What a fun adventure! So if we extrapolate your progression in truck acquisitions you should be acquiring a Mack NO next and then an M125, right?
Here is my list from my first post of this thread and I'm going to add links as I go to match up the completion of the things on this list and sorta check them off:
Here is a short list (in random order) of what I would like to add to the truck:
cab heat...
I gotta say I'm getting a little jealous watching this thread progress. My 813 also wants some 53s, but I keep telling it jakes and turbo first...
Your rig will look good with those shoes on!
My water manifold has the black sludge that others have experienced so I'm going to do a flush/ clean with fresh coolant. However, when my heater fitting sprung a leak it left rust streaks all over my truck. I'm trying to remember what rust indicates- cavitation or electrolysis? If I get...
There is more than one way to skin a cat and I think I follow where you're going. I think it would be worth trying on the 5 ton version as shipping is more costly than I like. Since the 2.5 ton version fits in a flat rate box now ($19.95) I don't think I'll chop that one down any further. If...
It was TheQuaker's truck I was thinking was an A1 - my mistake. I'll have to correct my previous statement.
Edit - I spy an air canister behind the drum of Dan's 939 series axle in post #40 so the 5-ton HubHelper obviously works on trucks with air brakes!
I know some fellas have used them on A0 939 trucks and I assume those drums are the same. I think they would fit as the tool essentially mimics the contact area of a wheel and wheels interchange between 809s and 939s. Part target says the air brake drum has a 3/8" larger radius on the I.D. of...
Here is a sneak peek of the new prototype 2.5 ton version of the HubHelper! This is a 2-piece design that will fit in a flat rate box. Plans are in motion to trial fit this one to an M35 and then I will be ready to make a production run of them.
I took my 813 to a car show 40 miles away and a heater fitting sprung a leak when I was 10 miles out. I showed up at the show with antifreeze spewing all over the place. The truck definitely made an entrance but not the kind I would have preferred. Fortunately and hardware store was 30 feet...
As far as I understand the tube is only on the driver's side because it (and also a triangular gusset) is part of the extra support needed for the air cleaner which is also driver's side only. This is true of all American M809s that I've seen and is not unique to Aussie trucks.
I've been doing some light reading of the Jacob's install manual for the 425/425A model and I'm kinda leaning toward this model over the 25B since it's a bit more versatile with Big cam vs Small cam and single entry vs split entry applications:
The downside is that they are a little more...
It would be pretty slick to incorporate roll down shutters into a cab visor above the windshield kinda like a hybrid between a garage door and the shutters on the GTO in The Punisher movie.
