mmm I just screwed mine to the cross-member above the left tail light. If the tailgate is level, as you say, it would still show.
I also was able to get e motorcycle sized plate and added a light for it as well. I drilled holes and used self taping screws to hold.

Looks like someone pushed something off. I wouldn't drive it very far. Maybe to a lowboy to transport, unless you can fix what's broken.

So, in other words, in some cases, there isn't any real difference other than the number? There really isn't a 'Standard a1 or a Standard a2?
Hit or miss? Some may be super upgraded, some may be bone stock from which ever factory they came from...
