    MEP-003a losing power

Apologies for causing some confusion here. I misread that your machine is a 003A. I read 803A. 36 ohms is correct.

    MEP-003a losing power

Yes, I was referring to the exciter field wires that go from the A1 VR terminals 5&6 down to the exciter stator. 35 ohms seems high. The TM shows 10.54 to 14.26 ohms for the stator leads in table 4.1.

    MEP-003a losing power

I am relatively new to the MEP-802, but here are some thoughts. When you are cranking (with the field flash relay energized) are you getting any voltage on the QUAD windings? Any chance you have a shorted diode on the VR, and are getting AC voltage into the semiconductors? Any chance you have a...

    Fixing up a MEP-802A

No, it didn't, but does now. The first thing I did was check the resistance of the Quad winding. All was good, so I added the fuse and varistor. If the Quad winding would have been bad, that would have been a wallet buster! To rewind a stator is about U$D 950.00 definitely not cheap.

    Fixing up a MEP-802A

I found a inventory sticker, indicating the unit came out of the Army ECBC. This unit was exceptionally clean, other than some cobwebs in the control box. The S6 switch was broken off the mount, but I was able to fix that. The casters on the base are my HFT addition. Some minor sheet metal...

    Fixing up a MEP-802A

Picked up a MEP-802A off GL in Lockbourne in January with 500hrs. No signs of water damage on the muffler or in the crankcase. Turning the fan turns the engine (only moved it a little, not to scrape the cylinders until I get some oil in there). The only obvious damage was a broken drain wellnut...

    MEP-00# Exhaust Hose

I used "High-Temperature Rigid Metal Duct Hose for Fumes" from McMaster-Carr on my MEP-016D. This comes in galvanized or stainless steel. https://www.mcmaster.com/#duct/=1buqv7f. As the previous commenter stated, "Please don't kill yourself with your generator". As a minimum, get a carbon...

    Ultimate well nut repair

Just ordered two brass fittings from PlasticMart. $17 for both, plus 16 shipping (2/2/2018). Received them in about a week. Since they use an O-ring, I tightened the nut until the O-ring is compressed in the groove, and no more. Since you can't see the O-ring, you have to feel it in the wrench...

    Mep016D Generator bearing

Does anyone have a generic / industrial part number for the generator bearing on a MEP016D? I can't find a cross reference to the part number from the TM manual part number. Mine sounds strange, and I would like to get a spare. Thanks H.
