I bought my truck after a short visit to this site. My recovery was likewise 750 miles and came off almost completely without incident thanks to the help of a stellar SS member.
Enjoy it, every day coming home from work when I turn onto my street and see my truck in my driveway it makes me smile.
I am surprised at how many folks on here mentioned something about pulling the hand throttle out. When I fire my deuce (after doing all the safety checks) I just hit the starter button and it fires up; no touching the pedal, no pulling the hand throttle. It idles ~800 RPM's.
Do I have my...
I used a complete redneck solution to drill my frame holes - but it worked (wish I would have taken a picture.)
I grabbed a medium length rubber tie-down and hooked one end on the frame in front of the drill. Then I wrapped the tie around the back of the drill, stretched it as tight as humanly...
I just registered my bobbed deuce in Sacramento last Friday. You can drive it with a class C license since you removed an axle - historic registration has no relation to the class of vehicle you are licensed to drive.
The DMV inspector came out, looked it over and said 'cool truck!' I went...
A'ight - thats good to hear. I was concerned I was losing fuel from somewhere else as well and was going to need to replace/rebuild the HH. I will try the screw and see where that gets me. Presuming I can find one.
Here's your chance to brag about your best work ;-)
Whats the best/favorite mod you've done to your deuce? All I've done so far is single & bob, so this is a selfish post (I'm looking for ideas.) Show us what you've got - pic's prove you did it.......
Tks Ranger. When I took mine out and then re-installed it, I went from leaking fuel vapors when warm to to squirting jets of fuel whenever the IP is running :(. Gotta' get this thing fixed asap.
In the pic I have circled the puff of fuel vapor. I took this before I had removed and...
Cheers mate. I am glad to hear this is a fairly common problem, and it sounds like it's an easy fix. I have to move in a couple of weeks and can't afford for my truck to be out of commission.
One last question: when you removed your screw and inspected it, was it apparent there was something...
Ranger - I have this exact same problem. When I pulled the delivery screw out I removed the screw and a spring, but I did not see a valve or any other component in there. After reinstalling the spring and screw, the leak was much worse (shooting jets of fuel out at idle :(.)
Did you pull a...
My first go at the DMV they tried to tell me I needed to smog my truck ('67 multifuel.) We had words. They then retracted their request for a smog certification.
I finally completed my registration today (8hrs, 3 trips and 2 DMV's later.) I ended up registering it as an antique. That was...
I weighed my bobbed deuce today. It's a standard M105 bob, using the trailer springs and helper leafs (frame shortened ~3'.) Softtop w/ow, no bows or tarps, 1/4 tank of fuel. Stock 9.00x20's. I had removed the spare tire, and all the tools from the toolbox.
9,360lbs.
Hmmmm, good question. For a brief period I was running a mix of WMO and diesel, what I found in the area where the fuel shut-off cable attaches appeard to be oil, so I assumed the WMO had somehow pooled there and remained.
It's totally possible it was just oil, and the fuel I was finding...
It's amazing how much burlier a duece looks with the 395's on. I like the NDT's and appreciate them for the value they have - being a good all-around tire. But the 395's just look sharp; and hey, the extra 10mph sure doesn't hurt......
