Yes the heat is the cause for the rust. Exhaust temps in the range of 800-1100 deg. hot! kind of like a car that burns on the expressway they rust in a very short time. I am not a metalurgist(?) but it's the heat.
On my latest deuce purchase there is some kind of radio base and antena on it . The base is bolted under the pass seat,and the antena is bolted to the back of the cab on a 2-2.5" piece of pipe,and there are some cable connectors. I will try to get photos later today.Does anyone have any idea...
Good point on the galvanized metal.What if you were to cut the corregated material,and then go back and make a parallel cut an inch away,pull out the corregated and then you would have a clear shot at the steel deck? you will use more gas/oxy but sawzall blades aint cheap either!
It is always good to hear of a good buy with a good truck. All to often I hear of the nightmare truck,looked good but was a greasy pig, bad trans,or some other major problem .Glad it all worked out looks like an awesome truck!
It was these or 16.00x20 xl, 14.00 xl seem to be scarce up here. I am right at 8'-6 ish. If I find I don't like these I might go with the 16.00s. I will see how the power is.The 16.00s will probably require me to remove the spacers.

I think I recall someone here saying that you can press a new one in? Maybe they will chime in.looks like a serious leak in that rear hub.Is that brake fluid or gear lube? What size tires are you running?
