It is your choice of color to prevent rust. I had a tan deuce, the replacement truck, an M998 is also tan. I prefer tan as it is the color of the trucks used in the sand box, tan stands out in parades as most of the other vehicles are painted camo or OD. Tan paint does show more dirt and stains.
I installed LED lights on my M116 and M1102 trailers . The serge brakes on these trailers eliminate the need for electric brakes when I tow them with my pick up truck. I have a military trailer receptacle mounted on a plate attached to the pintle, the wire from the military receptacle has a 4...
Got mine about 8 months ago, tan 4 man soft top with X doors. Body and frame are excellent. It is an '86 according to the paperwork. had 4k miles. At about 6k I spun a bearing and replaced the 6.2 with a non turbo 6.5. Now I am replacing the head gaskets on the 6.5 since they started to...
Nice mule! You have the engine guard and rear engine cover along with the foot basket. Thats a big plus as they are hard to find parts. If you have the round hole cover thats even better. Repro seats are available as well.
Best of luck with your new toy

Yesterday, I spent some time bolting up the cross over exhaust pipe to the manifolds on the block and the reaminder of the exhaust system. once aligned up, the difficult part was bolting up the passengers side. I installed the starter before the motor went in so 2 of the 3 flange bolts were a...
Ord22,
The 6.5 is available in both turbo and non turbo. The new one I am installing is a non turbo. The non turbo bolts right up to the regular transmission.
Putting a turbo 6.5 in place of a 6.2 or 6.5 non turbo equipped truck can be done. I looked into putting a 6.5 turbo in but going that...
Put some time in the garage today. I "dressed the motor" with the alternator, starter, power steeriing pump, belts and wiring harness. The 6.5l is now in the engine bay. It slid in with ease. The engine sling along with the gantry and chain fall really made this a one man job. I still need to...
Nick D's 6.2l engne taken out today
Spent the day in the garage with the torpedo heater keeping me warm as the outside temperature was in the 20's. The military lifting sling really made the job easy as it angles the engine at the right angle for removal. With the sling and the overhead...
Chris,
I saw this device in the manual. Since I will be both soldier A & B I thought locating one would make my life easier. I posted a need and got a reply. I will let you know how it goes.

The 6.2l engine lifting device arrived last week. Here it is installed. It will be a few more days before I get back and remove the remaining few items before the engine is out.
I had oil pressure all the way to the end. the bearings may be dry because they are not there. the shavings in the bottom of the pan are the bearings. the oil was drained on the 14th of January and it has been sitting in the garage since. i dropped the oil pan to disconnect the connecting...
NickD's engine install part2
Spent some garage time today. Got the starter out and the exhaust cross over pipe out of the way. I dropped the oil pan and found lots of shavings as shown in the picture. I had to remove the connecting rod nuts on cylinders 7&8 to turn the motor for access to the...
