As long as the polarity is correct, these will work fine and be a whole lot cheaper. The capacitor is to "Filter" out the ripple coming of the rectifier. Reduces EMI. The battery don't care about the ripple. Some electronic devices REALLY do, but there aren't any on a standard MEP002/003 setup.
