The more I work on this thing, the more I am convinced.... It really DOES only have 7.5 hours on it.
AND... It sat outside for the last 26+ years!:(
So, I bought two of the glow plugs for the head from (Onan 333B104 type)
I need to replace only the one right now. The other is to keep on hand. With shipping it worked out to less than $25 each.
The white "fiberglass" tube: what is it for? My guess is to put over the electrical wire to...
Every time I hear about someone MOVING to FLA, I remember that Seinfeld episode where Jerry said " My parents didn't want to move to Florida, but they turned sixty and that's the law. ":-P
Now, I don't know if either of you are over the limit... but at least we know Kenny is going to be legal...
I'm still here following the thread closely.
Joe is still asking all the right questions and it is his thread. I am just sponging up the info.
Yes, the return lines from the injectors are stuck. My calculating mind is thinking that :
"IF it runs for a few seconds, after letting go of the...
Here is a good pic by Speddmon.
The hoses, going up from the oil fill tube, are:
Bottom: Oil pressure gauge line
Middle: Fuel Supply
Top: Fuel Return to tank.
First, I hope you feel like a real dummy . (at least yours would be fixed and running that way)
Second, Look at the Figure 7-1 on page 7-2 of the -34 manual. (TM 5-6115-584-34) Item 1 is the IP (obviously). The return line connects to the fitting on top. The picture ain't great. Item 5...
There are actually four glow plugs on the MEP-002A (Six on an 003A). All are used. The two in the head are wired in parallel and are 24 volt units. The two in the intake are wired in series and are 12 volt civilian types.
That information is kind of discouraging to me. I am hoping for a...
Hey Joe,
Glad to see ya back on the net. Hope you get back on your feet soon. But, hey, with this weather, just enjoy a couple more days rest.
When I didn't see any response from you and all the responses to my last posts, I was getting worried I had hi-jacked your thread.
Glad to...
Updated the link to INDUSA for the glowplugs.
Seems they changed the website pages and the part number.
Now, do I buy one (Since that is all I need) or two (So I have a spare lying around)?
TreeGuy,
Right now I am soaking my nuts with PB Blaster....rofl
Until I can get that return line fitting that connects the injector return lines to the IP, I can't even pull the IP. I am hoping it is something simple. I figure when I get the return lines off, I will doubly check them for...
I haven't stripped the nuts completely on mine yet.
I have read, as PeterD stated, that the return lines can clog. My tank also had a layer of "gunk" on the bottom. Since that is due to oxygen (air), I am hopping that when do get the return lines apart, I find gunk in it. The return line is...
Not yet.
Not high on my priorities at the moment. AND, I need to let the PB BLaster soak into the fittings for awhile. (I so am not looking forward to working on those dang fittings) I am leaning towards the "there is crap in the IP" theory. So, until I feel the weather is right for a tear...
Hey Joe,
Keep us (me!) up to date with this project. Your problem sounds a lot like mine. It runs for a spell (5-10 seconds) AFTER I let go of the start switch. Then dies just like someone turned off the fuel.
I am cetain the selenoid is working ok because I hear the thing clang when the...
Rewrote the FAQ about connecting the generator to the house.
Did some re-formating of the repair part section and removed extra blank lines (carriage returns) that always seem to get added when I make a change.
Ok, did a quick search for you. (I hate when I am told to search, but couldn't resist )
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/auxillary-equipment/40290-mep-003a-hook-up-question.html
I search the forum using: House connecting
House wiring also brought up a bunch more hits.
Happy Reading.
Check out the WIKI for the MEP 002A and 003A. It is a great place to start.
In the FAQ section, there is link to how to ground the unit correctly. ( I haven't gotten to adding more house connection links yet) Use the search and you will find some threads discussing hooking it up to the house.
