I agree the pressure switch is broken. If the guage were broken, it wouldn't very likely be moving in a correct manner; if at all. The guage isn't very accurate but 35 at start when cold and becoming 30 when warm sounds good to me.
Speddmon, That is what I am thinking / hoping.
It those darn fittings on the pump that are preventing me from gettin' 'er done. (That and the winter weather)
Maybe this weekend I'll get pictures of the trailer it is sitting in. Sort of like a conastoga wagon. The trailer came with the racks...
The plunger was stuck.
I pushed it back in, then (with a ratchet) cranked the motor over. Repeated until the plunger would move in and out by itself when ratcheting the motor.
That got fuel to come out the injector lines when cranking over with the starter. Haven't cracked the line recently...
I cleaned everything in the fuel path from the tank to the IP.
When putting the fuel strainer back in, I couldn't figure out how tight to make the seat (retainer) that holds it in place. Too tight and I might starve the fuel flow. Too loose and I let too much crap and water through.
I...
Here is a link I stumbled across that I thought was pretty good.
Generators
Explains load sharing also.
As to what they were thinking when they wrote these manuals.... I work for the guberment now. Most of the engineers that write these things have NEVER been in the service or even had to...
Been working on getting my 002A running. Runs for a spell then makes a lot of racket, black smoke and stalls.
My question is: Which position of the tab is open and which is closed? Should the tab be up on the high lands or turned 90 degrees to that?
Don't know if venting is the problem or...
She fired!!!!
Well, used OD Fever's suggestion on un-sticking the fuel injector pump plunger. That worked to get fuel to the injectors.
Then I was able to get the little pipe coupler (#31 fig 38 above). The original 1/8 inch NPT coupler was split length-wise. Replaced that with a part from...
Patience is a virtue (that I am still trying to obtain)
Thanks Speddmon.
P.S. the meter says 7.2 hours. Either that is true or it was reconditioned. Not sure. A lot of the fittings still had nice green paint on them. Most of that has been knocked off now with the wrenches.
Some nuts and...
Hey,
I am working on getting the MEP going. I have no fuel coming out the lines to the injectors. Have plenty of fuel going to the pump, almost nothing coming back out. I think the plunger might be stuck. So, I am planning on pulling the pump.
While cranking it over to see if the IP would...
What I just did recently.
I mostly followed RickF's advise here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/61157-m101a1-mep002a-recovery-nj-pa.html
If your stuff looks like my stuff, here is what I did. I used mineral spirits to start. Put a gallon in and shake, shake, shake. Drained it out into...
If you mean the fitting on the input of the pump, I doubt that it is that. I have a strong and steady stream coming out of the delivery valve.
If you mean the fitting on the output side of the pump, I haven't pulled that yet. Too cold and snowy right now.
Dang, I haven't seen that piece in...
I like OD Fever's idea BUT...
So, is it ok to keep the juice to the pump when it is down to a 'click' or two a second? I was worried I would burn up the fuel pump by letting it in that condition too long.
Would a stuck plunger cause the return line appear to be clogged?
Would a clog in the...
Sorry to raise an old thread.... (ok, I am not sorry:lol:)
I am thinking of doing what OD Fever suggested to try and un-stick my IP pump. I have plenty of fuel going to the pump BUT I have only dribbles coming out of the return line into the tank. Should that be a strong flow out the return...
Go for it!!!
I am not an expert either. Most of what I put in the wiki either came from this site, or things I found. I did it to try and put all the wonderful information here in one spot. (OK, I am lazy. I got tired of re-searching.
The wiki actually represents EVERYTHING I know about the...
Speddmon, can you put the corrections into the wiki? Could save me/us some time when I/we go hunting for parts.
And thank you for correcting the outputs from PeterD's comments. (That's what happens sometimes when I cut and paste)
First off, I would love to take this to another thread if you want. It is very interesting and informative about generation of AC voltage.
Second, I have NO intentions of trying this with my MEP.
For 480 three phase, the phase to neutral voltage is 277. The coils could be reconfigured from...
