Some times they do, but not in this case.
I took the manufacture part number and let DuckDuck do the rest
IIRC this is actually a "special" bolt having a reduced head (10mm) rather than the normal 12 or 13mm
This is what the part number crosses over to, the parts TM is a wonderful tool and can be downloaded for free...

There are all the TMs you need to download for free.
The links are listed in a sticky at the top of the forum, here is the link you need.

You should download the first 8 manuals, the manual you need at this time is TM-9-2320-280-24P-1...
I have never heard of a transfer case being "locked" on a Humvee, but of course if it is on the interweb you can count on it being fact.
It certainly would not be locked in neutral
If it was grinding when the engine was running then the transfer case was trying to shift, sometimes it takes a little effort.
Make sure the engine is off and the trans in neutral.
It would be very helpful if you would download and read the TMs provided here for free especially the -10 operator TM, One thing you will find is the vehicle transmission must be in neutral and the engine OFF to shift the transfer case.
Otherwise you can cause damage to the drive train.

Nobody on this forum is going to...
There is nothing serviceable on that TCM.
You can replace that one with the older style that requires a plug in EPROM, the EPROM can be bought at Eastern, it is the cheapest way to go as the rebuilt TCMs are around $200

I replaced the high idle control with a modified throttle control off of a 5KW gen set, worked pretty well.
I was surprised at how well it maintained speed given it was just a throttle control, of course you have to remember to release it when you want to slow down.
If he had a Dmax or a LT gas...
First you should never knowingly drive without TC lock, the torque converter makes a tremendous amount of heat when it is driven out of lock.
Second do you have a working trans light and if you do when was the last time you read the codes?
That is the cold start advance, you should be able to carefully squeeze that barrel connector in the wire fitting to get it tighter, if not you may need to replace the male connector. (Would be female in ANY other world than the military)
Also you are missing the boot on the IP for that wire...
