This evening when I pulled a side cover off one of my spare M37 transmissions I discovered it had taken on some moisture and therefore some of the gears have picked up some surface rust.
It seemed to come off with WD40 and steel wool with no apparent pitting BUT, there is some discoloration on...
This sounds (and looks) like a good late model truck with lots of extras.
If you've got the option it's always best to start off with a good solid truck that's already got everything on it. Adding stuff later can be expensive.
If you close the deal on this truck please keep us posted as to...
I really tripped over my kick-stand on this one!
I had the air plugged in on the wrong side! I had a feeling it was something simple and stupid.
The sad thing is that I knew better. I hate it when you have dumb attacks.
Anyway, thanks for the input.
Today I learned that the brakes are released until I hook up the air!
Before starting the truck I jacked up each trailer wheel and found them to turn freely.
When I connected the air hose the trailer wheels siezed --- would no longer turn.
My trailer is a single hose unit and doesn't have...
I went to move my M105 trailer this afternoon only to find the brakes wouldn't release. Both wheels are froze solid. I tried hooking up the air to see if that would release the brakes --- no luck. I also experimented with the two hand brakes --- no luck. I'm thinking when the handles are...
Hey Mike,
May I assume you have, or will soon have the morrors available for sale?
If so, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, please post a larger picture of your truck showing the mirrors. I have a real hard time imagining how something will look until I see it. I used to go shopping with my...
RE: oilmsampling
I had no idea that oil should be changed every thousand miles.
I knew the 18 month time frame was pushing it but I "thought" that two-thousand miles was reasonable.
When I changed the oil I installed a set of builder 77's spin on 1970XE 5 micron filters. I would like to...
RE: Re: RE: Need Help Understanding An Oil Analysis Report
More Info:
I called the Lab, (Oil Analysis Lab, Inc.) this morning.
They didn't do an infra-red analysis to determine soot, fuel dilution, oxidation, nitration, water%, and anti-freeze% because I ordered the wrong pre-paid kits.
In...
Hopefully someone can help me understand an oil analysis report I received today.
I decided to get the analysis mainly because of curiosity. My truck runs fine, has good oil pressure, amble power and doesn't seem to smoke very much once warmed up.
I was curious to see what impact the Minnesota...

WillWagner Sez:
Yup --- the M292 is what I was thinking about. A guy could build one heck of a camper out of one of those.
The boot out over the front would make a nice place for a bunk. Or, in the case of a radio shack --- for storage.
Thanks for the input
Is the M36 carge bed (van) 17 foot long and does it have a storage area that hangs out over the cab?
I saw what was said to be an M4 which looked like it had lots and lots of room.
RE: Re: RE: Brand Spanking New M37 Transfer Case --- Yup...S
Last weekend I had an opportunity to so some speed checks with the 489 gears and M-715 speedo gear/transfer case.
I'm running Denman 305/85R16 (36" Dia) tires.
At 2,500 RPM I'm running 55 MPH.
With the M-715 speedo gear the speedo...
RE: Re: RE: Brand Spanking New M37 Transfer Case --- Yup...S
98 was about the same time I bought my transfer case and it also came with 715 yokes
I didn't know they would quiet down as they wear in. That's good news.
My spedo is also running fast.
I've got a Sun Tach mounted on the steering...
RE: Re: RE: Brand Spanking New M37 Transfer Case --- Yup...S
I forgot about taking a picture until it was installed.
I could take one from under the truck but it would also include the "Home Sweet Home" sign I mounted on the underside of the floorboard. I've been spending so much time laying...
RE: Brand Spanking New M37 Transfer Case --- Yup...Still Noi
I bought the new case from John Bizal at Midwest Military approximately 10 years ago.
I doubt if you could find a new case today.
