On my deuce they put the registration number on the doors but on the data plate they put the reg number and frame number to make a 17 digit VIN. That made things easier. My truck came from the SDNG and the reg number has no letters.
Missouri classified my M105A2 as homemade. I bought it from MWMULES who lives on the Kansas side. The MO DMV have me a form to have him fill out. Basically a bill of sale.
Someone did quite a bit of customizing. Take a look at the last 5 digits of the serial number on the data plate. They should match the five digits on the frame inside the driver's side fender just behind the axle. The data plate May or may not be original to the truck.
Look for a late 80's Air Force deuce with the dual circuit brakes or do the dual circuit modification. Basicaly it is two brake systems operated by one brake pedal. Other than that, as said above, add a remote reservoir and keep on top of your preventive maintenance.

Here are a few good threads from the East Wind site. We run a 9 day, 24 hour a day Cold War airsoft game in March and the heaters are a huge help.
I can put up some pics later today. The wood version has a grate and a shaker handle. We find they are best when the stove glows slightly red in the dark. The diesel version should be just as good as the wood version. The diesel are a little easier since you don't have to cut wood. The diesel...

We use the wood burning version at East Wind in March. At 20-30 degrees (outside) they will keep a small MGPTS tent nice and toasty. I imagine the diesel will do the same.
You'll want to carry a spare ballast resistor, ignition module and air filter in the truck. The ballast resistor and ignition module are know to fail randomly. The air filter can stop the engine even though it still looks clean. My dad had a 74' W200 Club Cab for a long time. This was his...
Shanon and I plan on getting down about noon or just after on Friday. I want some time to check the trails to be sure there aren't any surprises. It would suck to find a fallen tree with a line of trucks behind us. Dogs love D-Day too. Lots of critters making noise and leaving scents.
I'm...
All of the Mutts in the East Wind fleet have noisy differentials. They have a grinding, whining sound but they are solid. Also check the bushings in the control arms. They can rattle and clank if they are worn. It's usually accompanied by noticeable wandering or shimmying if you play with the...
My deuce has an LDS which puts out a max of 440 ft/lbs or so. My 3053a is doing just fine. I suspect the 300 number is a deliberate lowball to keep people away from the true max and actually blowing them up.
