I considered one of those, but the ball was far to high off the ground for use with any of my trailers. (I have Michelin 11.00R16 tires on the truck, which accounts for some of the height, but even with stock tires, the pintle hitch is still too high.)
Which is exactly why I wanted a frame mounted hitch, and chose one with longer surface which bears on the frame to distribute the load well across the frame (lighter rated hitches only bear on the frame for a little over a foot on each side). I did contact the manufacturer about whether is was...
As mentioned in my initial post, the whole point of my search was that I did not want to use a receiver which just bolts on to the rear cross member. I need a large drop from the receiver to get my ball to a reasonable height. That makes for a long lever arm putting a twisting moment on the rear...
Amsoil Zrod 10W-30 is what I started using at the first oil change after I bought my M37. It's been working fine. It's expensive stuff as oil goes, but I'm basically changing once per year, so not that big a deal.
I'm no ignition system expert, but I thought the capacitor in a Points & condenser (a.k.a. capacitor) system was about more than noise filtering. Isn;t it there to help prevent burnign and pitting of the points? Or is this a different capacitor.
Were you adjusting the idle speed screw or the idle mixture screw?
My manual has them correctly identified in one place, but has the identities reversed in another picture.
In his initial post, he stated that he has "good spark" and "checked all 6 plugs for spark all good". If in fact that is correct, wouldn't that tell us that the coil and condenser are good? (unless they have intermittent problems).
Another minor addition: I added a brake controller to my truck.
I chose a RedArc TowPro Elite. It will accept either 12 V or 24 V input while providing braking voltage appropriate for 12V trailer brakes. (Those of you with hybrid 12/24V systems, just make sure you are feeding it with the same...
Those are Michelin 10.00 R 16 XL tires. Larger than standard. They were on the truck when I bought it. They are a little "over the top" for my taste appearance-wise, but I've gotten used to them. I used my truck in the woods, so the extra ground clearance has proven handy. I understand that they...
My next run to the "Solid Waste Transfer Center" will be in Brutus, so I can run him across their scales and see just how close he is to the book weight.
Well, I thought the purpose of the coil was to generate high voltage for the spark.
I read somewhere about the imported coils being a bit on the short side, so not making good contact with the housing to conduct the heat away. Someone mentioned putting a copper washer/shim in and coating it...
