    My new mechanic

The daughter and I spent some time on the "Beast" doing some routine maintenance: diff fluids, oil, air, and radiator. Fun afternoon and she learned some and was a laugh a minute.

I'm envious! Great collection of vehicles and plenty of spares to keep them running for decades!

    CUCV Front Winch Mount

You won't get rich building them but you should sell a handful (reasonably priced of course). I love the looks and the idea of using what's already there instead of going to a receiver hitch and still needing the mount. Handles will be a must otherwise it will be a bear to fit on in the mud...

    m1009 roof sealant.

I don't use anything on the bed rails but where it comes in contact with the cab I'm still using the old gasket and no leaks so far. There are several places that offer replacement cab seals. For my old CJ I've been using some of the Lowe's weather stripping tape for around windows and doors...

Not shifting - Time to call a tow truck?

Thanks for all the help! Got her home with a little bailing wire. The issue was where the shift rod that connects the transmission to the steering shaft had popped out of the keeper. Looks like the hole it enlarged or part of the bushing is missing. I used the bailing wire to hold everything...

Not shifting - Time to call a tow truck?

Shifter column has no indication of notches that you normally feel when shifting. I think I'll try to crawl under and manually shift but I'll find someone to assist with that one. The more I play with it the more I'm convinced it is linkage somewhere between the column and the transmission...

Not shifting - Time to call a tow truck?

No, have lots of straps and chain but no bar. Could I tow since it is stuck in reverse or would I need to remove drive shaft? Thanks, Jat

Not shifting - Time to call a tow truck?

Currently my M1009 is sitting at my office in reverse and will not shift. It hasn't had the orange gear indicator since I've owned the truck but hasn't been an issue but today when I got in her to drive to work I shifted into reverse to back out of the drive and when I went into drive the...

Great job and nice touch! Looks great.

Bought a 1008 over the weekend.

Likely the controller card for the GPs went out and whoever owned the truck took the easy way out and simply did a bypass. There are vendors on here that sell the controllers. Could be you have electrical issues elsewhere in the system but either way fairly straightforward to put back with...

    M886- Information and Location

Craigslist and auction sites are your best bet. Those and sites like this will eventually pay off. Post in the WTB sections and you'll find one. It may be the friend of a friend who knows this guy deal but you'll find it.

    Newbie CB Radio Questions

A better combination for a CB antenna would be the MS-116A, 117A, and AB-24/GR sections this will make a shorter antenna with the AB15 mount you should be able to get an SWR around 1.3. If you are getting high SWR or trouble transmitting or receiving, use a ground strap around the so-239...

Anyone get an off the shelf Nerf Bar to fit their M1008 truck?

I use the Carr steps on my 1009 and they are easy to put on. Makes it easy for us old fat guys to get in and out!

    Blinker/Flasher Problem

A quick way to test to eliminate some items, check your hazards. Do they work? Swap the flasher relay on the fuse box, do they still work? If not, do the blinkers? If so problem solved replace blinker relay. Probably not that easy but you may get lucky.
