That is the Army registration number, it uniquely identifies the vehicle sort of like a license plate, even though the unit numbers might change.
If you go to the current VIN thread started by CARNAC, he might be able to find out the information on your truck.

I might be able to move your halftrack to my place here in Co Springs where you can store it a little longer if need be. Drop me a line if you need it moved to give you more time than a week.
Plus if Soni's going to move it, I'll get to see his big toy in person :D

So you can swap the top off of the injection pump to only change the solenoid/fast idle? I'm thinking of picking up a HMMWV motor for my Suburban project and was curious about that. I'm assuming you also have to swap out the glow plugs for the correct 12v ones?

I've replaced two dash harnesses now and can tell you that a civi wiring harness is MUCH different from the CUCV one and would be very difficult to adapt to the CUCV.

You know... the first thing I thought when I saw the post title and saw M920 was the author was that someone had lost that big @$$ M920A1 and was wondering just how that happened... rofl
Anyway, that really sucks and I hope they 'find' it with a quickness... My guess is you'll find it on Ebay...
If you mean the two things in the grille on the same level as the headlights, they are the NATO slave (jump start) connector on the passenger's side and the blackout driving light on the driver's side.
Welcome to the site.

Hey Steve,
It's your truck, do what you want with it. If you do decide to get rid of the electrical stuff in the box, I'm looking for some parts for my 1031. Drop me a PM if you're interested.
Thanks,
Joe
Well, to check you could put a voltmeter on the rear battery and see what voltage you get while running. Should be 14V or so.
Everything I've read about the GM system says that the bulb has to be functioning in order for the system to charge.

The 'mystery valve' appears to be a vacuum shut off valve from the vacuum pump. Dunno why they would put that in there because all the vacuum does is control transmission shifting and without it it will shift at high RPM and HARD.
Does the hose on that valve run to a valve on the side of the...
Yea, there's a problem with the glow plug system. I'm not sure where to check first because that isn't covered in the -20TM... I would suggest checking the wiring to make sure it's all ok and connected properly.
I'll do a little more thinking and see if I can come up with anything else to...
Run to the junkyard and pull one from any other GM vehicle instrument cluster. In the short term, you could pull one from one of the other sockets like the 4WD light.
Gen 2 is only for the second battery that runs the 24V side of things which if you don't have a military radio is the starter...
Any big equipment seller or big truck dealer should be able to order the ether can, if not have them on the shelf. They are a common item.
Just make sure you use common sense with it and don't overdo it.

1. It should come on when the ignition is in RUN. If it doesn't the Gen2 alternator won't produce voltage. The bulb is a standard 194 just like all of the rest of the dash bulbs and the side marker lights.
2. Does it come on while the engine is still cold or while warm? The glow plugs are...
The problem with auto tranny's and the Cummins isn't just the amount of torque, it's also the harmonic vibration and the strength of the power impulses. Both of which can hammer the torque converter apart. That said, the 400 with a good aftermarket diesel converter will handle the 5.9 just fine...
All would be fine although biodiesel does not have the longevity in storage as normal diesel because it tends to grow algae and other organics that like to plug filters. The off-road diesel might have a higher sulfer content which the IP will like better, but ULSD will work fine. The JP8 only...
It has been determined that a local museum 'owns' it and needs to move the tank about a mile. Oh, and it's an M-60 'Slick'.
If I were closer, I'd volunteer my 816 to help in moving it.
